My new laptop has come with Microsoft Edge browser, which claims it is brilliant and much faster than everything else.

Is this true? Have always used Chrome up to now..

Another point, Microsoft edge is so shit, at work they uninstalled it about a month after upgrading to windows 10 and made everyone use internet explorer.

Edge is faster and more compatible with standards now plus the sandboxing stuff it does to protect the machine is awesome. Chrome opens a new thread for everything and hammers memory, BUT has a higher user base who have favourites and passwords and whatnot stored on Google so older folk will continue using it and not switch.

You do realise you don't have to use Bing with Edge?

I presumed it could be changed in settings somehow. But seen enough to persuade me back to Chrome anyhow.

I dont see an option to uninstall the thing. I will just put it on ignore.

Make sure you install ublock origin, NOT adblock plus. Unless you want paid popup ads being allowed through.

Does this work on sites like the Chive where they detect ad blockers? (so I've heard)

Yeah, just remove it from your tool bar and ignore it.
