We missed Altidore today

Curious why you would bring on Altidore if we were losing and Fletcher if we were ahead. It seems like if we needed a goal Fletcher would be a better option, and if we were just trying to waste time cause we are ahead, Altidore's hold up play would be better.
Altidore is at his best running about like a headless chicken. He only does this for a bit but it puts the fear of god into whoever hes chasing. Hes like the hulk.

Fletcher is technically a far better footballer and we can control posession that bit better with him playing. Altidore is at his worst when we're trying to control possession.

If he had a footballing brain he'd be a good player but he plays like an absolute novice.

With him, 17 goals for, 8 goals against in 7 wins and 1 loss.
Without him, 2 goals for, 6 goals against in 1 win and 2 losses.

He's the best centre foward in the squad. Play Borini underneath him or on the left, but the squad is better with him than without.

The best centre forward in the squad is fletcher. fletccher is out oof form and those stats are interesting mind.

Sorry mate, I can't agree. Dozy's hold up play is sporadic at best. Often it appears he's wearing Toblerone boots. I could forgive that if he bust a gut but he spends a lot of time glowering at people and falling over clumsily.

He is weird that way. He seems very polished intellectually in his interviews but he looks absolutely lost sometimes. I agree that sometimes it seems it would be better if he just ran around like crazy for about a half and tired out the defense for the someone else in the 2nd half.[DOUBLEPOST=1394832370][/DOUBLEPOST]
3. Dp's ?

DP means designated player. Each team gets 3 guys that get paid over $350,000 per year (not sure exact figure) and the rest have to fit within the salary cap of $3.1 million per year. It leads to big difference in quality between some players on the teams. So part of the team is probably league one level and part is probably prem.

The league has gotten a lot better lately though (maybe the past couple of years) because of the financial turmoil in Spain and Argentina. They are doing a better job of finding better players on the cheap.

not as interesting as these ;)

copy n paste:

these are the Premier League games Altidore has started along with Fletcher and Borini stats (not that a 0-0 matters that much, I didn't include the Hull game). The actual game results listed are the ones Altidore's has started. For all 3 players, a simple copy & paste and sort using Excel did all the work for me. You can see Fletcher and Borini's stats also but not the games

some additional stats:

Altidore's goals hasve won us 0 points, Fletcher and Borini have got us points with their goals

Altidore hasn't scored when as a sub as he's only got one goal overall this season and scored that starting against Chelsea (red in pic)

with Altidore coming on as a sub, a games result hasn't changed to gain points as we were already winning against Man City, Everton & Fulham and lost the rest. Fletcher came on to get a point away at Cardiff and Borini to get 3 at home to the Mags

with Altidore's points per game we'd get 31.2 points over the season if you pro rata his points per game, relegation yet Fletcher and Borini would get 41 & 46 points respectively so safe from relegation

SAFC only won once in the first 13 games Altidore started this season but thanks mainly to Borini!

I'd take Brentford to beat the Florida Fucktards or LA Fo'Shizzle any day of the week.

Uncle Sam my arse. More like Aunty Twat.

Then you're a daft f***ing bellend twat bitch mother fucker. How's that?[DOUBLEPOST=1394835312][/DOUBLEPOST]

My pal , soccer mad lives in wisconsin , says that usa sport is missing out bigtime by not having relegation and promotion. The sheer stress and pressure of end of season at top and bottom of soccer divisions is brillint whereas finishing last and getting first draft pick is so boring.
I used the word soccer so we don't get confused .
Now some numbnut can call me for doing so .

Enjoy.
Pretty much lacking in creativity, originality and therefore impact. I stand by what I said. MLS is doomed to failure long term because it's a) lacking in real quality, and b) lacks the tedious stop-start nature that the American public and, surely coincidentally the advertisers, seem to demand of their World Series of sports. Whoah. Yeah. Go Galaxy. And such like.

I should also add that the American public won't warm to a sport they'll never dominate or indeed even seriously compete at the top table in. And yes I know England are poor. But not USA poor. ;)

There you go again trying to justify his existence we might as well play one of the ball boys who has applied to university to run around except we would not have to pay him 50k per week to tire out defenders. Just accept the stats he is the worst ever striker to pull on a Sunderland shirt.

On the contrary i think your opinion is completely outdated , having spent a lot of time in the states i can tell you that football/ soccer is taking off , it is played by all the school kids , there are shit loads of schools with fulltime european coaches teaching it all over , the games are starting to get good crowds , big crowds in seattle and portland , the advertisers will eventually figure out a way to make it attractive for their customers and when they do , in a country of this size the revenue produced will be of mind boggling sums.
In maybe 10 or 15 yrs this will be the richest and biggest league in the world.

I think that's highly unlikely. Sorry but I do. Spent a lot of time in the USA myself and I just don't see it.

Well it doesn't take a brain surgeon to see he is a complete nob, mueller talks sense and knows his footie ,
I been going 3 times a year for 12 yrs , was there in january , was in two english bars to watch our games in vegas and plenty of yanks came in with english PL. shirts on to watch their teams , interestingly though all the avid fans are young , soccer is the future over there , when i first went they wouldn't put it on the screens in the casinos but its on in em all now , your right still a long way to go but its starting.

With Man City buying New york city and Beckham starting Miami i think many good players will be attracted and the interest in the MLS is bound to grow.
