We had run out of money.

Whilst I'll be eternally grateful for what Short has done for this club, you have to ask yourself how our wage bill became so out of control whilst being lumbered with so many average players? Did Keane ok the deals and sign the paperwork? Bruce? MON? No, it was our board and owner who agreed to pay this shite so much for so long.
Therefore, it seems madness to pull the plug when there is so much more at stake. If we do go down, it certainly isn't guaranteed we'd go straight back up and, in the meantime, the PL clubs would be getting more telly money and spending more on players.

This is not the time to have to play catch-up imo.

I use approximations but they're based on real figures, the club's last financial report put the wage bill at about 80%, PL and Sky announced an increase by around 50%, I'm making an educated guess with the figures available.
Aye for 2011-2012 season. Somewhat out of date ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1379503043][/DOUBLEPOST]
Astounded at the way we go about our transfer dealings tbh
So how do you think we should go about our transfer dealing?

what gets me is (and tell me if I've got this wrong) the ffp only comes into force if you get into Europe. correct ? so we have spent little tbh, which means we haven't attracted the calibre of player to even get a European spot. therefore rendering adhering to it pointless ! am I missing something or getting it wrong
plus, man city spend shed loads and the powers that be don't kick them out of Europe........

It was Europe only for the 1st 3 years but from this season it also includes being docked points in the league as well.

To be honest am sick of hearing about the money situation, all I know is we've turned into a selling club and no ones batted an eyelid. Can't be arsed to work out what mr short has put in but it seems to me it has been well matched with outgoings. Unless some Arab with shit loads comes in we will always be plodders but what is glaring obvious (to me anyway) is that this team will go down this season, just haven't got enough quality in the team.

Well clearly we should have kept Campbell for another 6 months & not bought Graham. Actually we just shouldn't have bought Graham regardless of what happened with Campbell.

My feelings exactly. I thought that supporters wanted the best, it seems this lot are happy with the best they can get, even if it's not good enough, it'll do for them. They don't mind spending money on an inferior product.

Not sell a better player for 600k and replace him with a shitter player for 5m would be a start.

This is what happens when you let Campbell go for £600k and replace him with Graham for £5m in the same window and class that as good business.

that still haunts me :( I'd 100% rather have kept cambell and save £5m than do that bit of business..... one of the worst decisions I have seen in a while business wise

The Graham signing turned out to be a shocking piece of business but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Yeah, some were sniping when we signed "a Mag" but an awful lot on here were singing his praises when he first signed - a lot of who are now trying to say "I told you so" when they did nothing of the sort at the time.

I'm also sick of hearing about the fact we sold Mig too. He didn't want to be here so why keep him in the hope that he will perform to the same level as last season when he wouldn't be right mentally if he'd stayed? And Sess? We've built our team around him over the last few seasons and it plainly hasn't worked. His performances were getting worse, he would rather be on the piss than supporting his teammates and he has had at least two hefty payrises out of us already. We were right to get rid when we did.

I'm also convinced that it we'd been able to get the comparatively big wages of Bardsley & Cattermole off our wage bill in the summer that would have given us more scope to sign a better standard of player. I just hope Ellis has kept some powder dry for January - we might need reinforcements then.

The problem is that some of what we have brought in looks to be not good enough.

Too many changes, I just don't see the logic in letting Alfy leave.

That's the problem for me....we actually have even more of what we already had clogging the wage bill up.[DOUBLEPOST=1379504446][/DOUBLEPOST]

It hasn't like, but in any event there's no indication that he's trying to take funds out of the club.

The outcome of the club's previous (broken) business model was to continually bumble around the lower reaches of the Premier League whilst losing millions of pounds a year.

From the information that's coming out of SAFC, what he is trying to do is to put the club on a long term sound financial footing.

Post O'Neill, the club has been turned on its head.

It was an incredibly bold move by Short and only time will tell if his gamble pays off.

Graham signing was a disaster from the off.

If you think Mignolet wouldnt have then got on with putting in good performances you are silly. He wouldnt sacrifice his career over it. More likely is a bigger bid would have come in (and nearer to his true value).

Will you stop prattling on, getting more dramatic with the less attention you get.

If you view us as a product I suggest you look for a better one.
