'we can build a “Uruguayan” club in England, that with claw can compete with the best in the world'

Uruguay is a great country and the most overcheiving football nation ever.
Which team has won the most continental and/or world cups ever? Brazil? Germany? No - its Uruguay, thanks to 15 Copa America titles vs Brazil´s puny 8.
Literally the most successful country ever at football and they have a smaller population than Yorkshire.

Think they are only good at football? Think again.
It is the most peaceful and libertarian Latin country. The government works well for the people, taking only 22% tax. The country has good social services, health care, education standards and is the banking capital of Latin America.

The interior produces excellent beef, vegetables, wine and grappa miel (sweet delicious liquer). Craft beer is also pretty good. Cabezas - British style ale and Volcanica - Belgian thogh you can get Hobgoblin and Fullers quite cheap in the duty free.
Nice to go horse-riding and quadbiking, and it has some of the best beaches in Latin America, including upscale city beach Pocitos, jetset Punta del Este, hippy Cabo Polonia, and the surf paradise, Punta del Diablo, popular Rocha and World Heritage Colonia del Sacramento.

Locals and visitors enjoy great wine, party and bbq culture in a chilled out, permissive, not expensive sun-drenched country of duty free and no fux given.

I like it so much I quite often live there in the summer. Highly recommended - 500 times better than any Spanish resort. Juan and I will see you there.

Sounds class. Can’t say I’ve ever considered a holiday there.

Cheers Juan, it’s on my radar now.

If they are youth players under legal working age they won't need a work permit surely?

Possibly not, but it's far from easy under FIFA regulations A guide to the FIFA rules on the international transfer of minors - Thomas Cooper LLP . Essentially their parents would need to move to this country for a job, which would mean that they would need a work permit. If post-Brexit immigration rules apply anything like the same stringency to EU as non-EU migrants, it could easily be the biggest shakeup of the transfer system since Bosman, because a very large number of EU players currently playing in Britain would not have qualified to play here otherwise.

We have a proud tradition over the years of bringing in players from South America.
Ok, they have been utterly shit, cost us a fortune then left after a season.

Sorry for being negative but I would rather we looked at developing homegrown talent, something we have proven that we can do well.

Got to admire his enthusiasm mind.

A similar idea works brilliantly for Olympic Lyonnais who have well established scouting networks in Brazil, choose lads carefully to bring across, and end up doing well in their league and good business in the transfer market.

Potentially exciting times.

Fuck mate. You forgot that weed is legal there lol

Thought that peaceful, libertarian, chilled out, permissive and no fux given hinted on that.
But explicit for the razzy tourist types
Ganja easy to buy in Uruguay and not illegal - but not quite Amsterdam coffee shops either
Prostitution also legal in most of south america (as long as consensual, not linked to organized crime and not in any other way breaking the public peace)

You can do what you want in Uruguay if you keep it on the down low

Yeah, Sartori says he doesn't know how he's going to do it, but i'm sure he could find the parents a job if needs be.

I genuinely wish you luck but if that interview had come from up the road you would be all over it as delusional bullsh@t. It makes me think of John Hall’s “Geordie nation” rubbish...
If that interview had come from up the road it WOULD have been delusional bullsh@t. Like precipitation of the torrents of P*ss that deluge down the streets of Newcastle

Nee mags on this thread they're usually all over threads on a Sunday neet
Probably at home sucking their thumbs, building their hard luck stories and nursing their wounds after their latest disappointment. bad referee I heard from them

Tee hee.

Said on here umpteen times they’ve always been my favourite forrin national team. Strange how them being the first squad I completed in my Mexico70 sticker book still resonates a “few”years later. 48 years. Jesus.
