We’ve had no money available

We allow James to leave mid-June, and it was obvious that Oviedo was going to leave - which he did 5 weeks ago now.

Despite this, we’ve still ended up ‘panic buying’ a left back with a couple of hours before the deadline.

Recruitment has been a f***ing shambles

We seem to get our 5th-10th choices everytime, something isnt adding up here. The recruitment has been ok. Willis, McNulty and Dobson, we knew we needed 2 fullbacks, well why wasnt that targeted and sorted a long time ago. I dont see any structure to the scouting team, they should have young promising targets lined up for every position, but here we are again, f***ing last minute last choice. What the fuck is going on down there? The fact the manager cant figure out his best team doesnt bode well

So was the owner lying then?

“We’ve got plenty of money to invest in the team”

“The wage bill doesn’t have to go down at all”

“If Jack wants 3-4 players, that’s what he’ll get. I always back him.”
I know Ross hasn't helped himself, but some of the comments over the last few month are in danger of throwing him under the bus. I think Donald's intentions are good but, he confuses the fuck out of me.
There was money available , we had money offers turned down
People can only comment on what's in front of them. At the minute Donald looks as though he just speaks without thinking. Sunderland supporters have had that for years from various people.

Donald has told fans a thousand times there is money to spend but they aren’t just going to waste it. Ross has always said he wants a LB for cover. The way this place is at since the Peterborough game is embarrassing you would think we were struggling in the bottom 3 not 3pts off the top
Cabinteely put a bid in for Neymar. There is nothing to stop us bidding £500k for de Ligt. There is also nothing stopping Donald saying we put bids in for players when we didn't.
But we did

It’s f***ing desperate, really. They’ve gone from being a fan-oriented podcast to just a mouthpiece for the club, trying to silence any dissenters who might hold a negative opinion of the owners.
It’s typical PR moves- give the ‘press’ a few scraps and they will be in your pocket for the rest of time

Who?

Tbh I think this is exactly why Donald just shouldn’t discuss transfers at all on the podcasts, it’s a no win situation. Everything he says is pulled apart to every detail.
it's not really pulled apart in this case. he basically said we have money to spend if we need a player. and now it turns out that despite have a pedestrian forward line and midfield for 40 games now, they can't bring anyone in and can only plug the left back issue with a loan.

then again if they were prepared to splash cash on Morgan Fox then maybe it's best of they don't waste their money with the current scouting team involved. they should start actually going to some league 2 games. Guarantee they'll unearth some jems as other teams do.

The more they bullshit about bidding for X, Y, Z, the more I'm convinced they are still shelling out for Catts & Oviedo, and have received fuck all from their supposed legal action against Djilbodji & N'Dong.

Latest podcast from RR is just a review on Burnley and Peterboro. It's bizarre there is not talk whatsoever over 100 mins about the takeover situation or the transfer window closing. Are they instructed by the club to not discuss ? Obviously the takeover is all quiet from the club til its done, so it could be considered a waste of air time, but the transfer deadline is surely worth discussing.
