We’ve had no money available

I thought that was well known to be honest.

I've backed SD & CM all the way but having listened to the podcasts there is definitely smoke and mirrors in their communication.

SD has said numerous times we'd be in a position to further strengthen IF required and are in a great financial shape... I'd say the LB position and creative player in a wide / attacking area was a must to secure promotion. Yet here we are with same issues as last year... I'm really starting to doubt the managers ability to get the best out of what he has also.

The performances and squad don't look good enough despite a lot of credit the owners have built up and I'm beginning to get concerned the supporters have been let down yet again! Time will tell I suppose.

That is incredibly harsh. They've done a good job.
In terms of cutting costs and stabilising the club.... yes.
In terms of investing and developing the club... not at all.
Tell me one aspect of the club they have developed since being here.

Starting to wonder if SD got his words mixed up when he said we'll get 100 points this season, think he was meaning to say weve got 100k to spend this season. 😂

they pulled off a miracle by buying the club for the price they paid along with ellis writing off most of the debt. they'll pull off another if this takeover does come to fruition and significant funds are invested in the club. The rest has been a lot of good PR and much needed belt tightening around the club but also with some mixed messages and unanswered questions thrown in (still don't know if or when the parachute money will be forthcoming). SD has continually promised investment in the football team by various means but that's not been backed up apart from Grigg.

I'm sure they genuinely want the team to succeed as that's the only way their investment will pay off but I feel we're not being told the full story at times.

Well they are hardly going to tell you they are skint and have no funds for investment, they give a little bit of hope in order for people to get season tickets and sponsorship to the club...

You don't become a self sufficient club by loaning players from Leeds who haven't kicked a ball for 18 month. You become self sufficient by scouting young talent, developing them into better players and selling them for profit.

So you mean like we did selling honeyman, a ‘young talent weve developed’ for more than we spent on our incoming transfers this summer?

I'd rather be told the truth than sold a lie

Playing devils advocate, but are we not in league 1 because historically when it got to deadline day and we had a woefully inept squad, we would knock on other clubs doors with our trousers round our ankles and pay what they wanted, not what the player was worth (to both club and player)

Is it possible that this window other clubs have tried to do what Wigan did to us last year and for once we have actually learned from our mistakes?

If we hold firm for a window or two and walk away from the negotiation with no deal rather than a bad deal, maybe clubs will stop seeing us as a soft touch and we may actual get s good deal for once in the future instead of always haemorrhaging money on shite.

In short maybe the owners weren’t lying, maybe the money was there to spend, it was just that no one was prepared to be reasonable about receiving it for their distinctly mediocre player.

I don't think it ever went away. Ever since the report surfaced about how they moved the parachute payment around their accounts, there's just something about these two that doesn't add up.

Dont get me wrong - I'd be very happy for SD & CM to make a hell of a lot of money when they sell the club, but only if we are significantly higher up the football pyramid than we were when they bought us.
