Having read Ross’s post match comments whilst he won’t start on Saturday I’ll be very surprised if the lad isn’t on the bench on Saturday.

Can’t believe the negativity of some posters toward Watmore on this thread. He’s still young, was showing promise in the premier league and has had 2 serious injuries which have impacted his development. He was no Michael Owen or Wayne Rooney, but promises to be a very competent PL player. His style is ungainly, but in full flow he’s a nightmare for the opposition - reminds me a bit of Paolo Wanchope who the City fans loved at the time.

If he had that regularly with his pace he would still be at Man Utd but not many lads have his real pace and the high end technical bit . Will add a lot to us this season even carrying the ball up the pitch
Very useful player for that granted especially for those periods we are under pressure. When we're on top its to be hoped he can fit into that passing possession game that's been dominating sides in patches

I thought it was an excellent comeback game from him. Made a lot of great runs, relieves pressure and keeps their defence pegged back as they can't risk leaving space behind.
A lot of his runs weren't spotted or picked out by tonight's midfield but that will be improved by Geads, Maguire, Honeyman and Catts

I think it would terrify a few defences him and Kimpioko running at them.

I only saw the video of 'his' first goal - but yes, this exactly. He worried Premier League defenders and put spark into matches - how much more he'll be able to do this in League 1, provided he keeps his pace.
Like a supercharged Goochie on caster wheels - can certainly see a few penalties being won if he gets runs and right balls into the area.

It's almost automatic without considering the facts.

He doesn't have a fancy name, good looks or a poncy hairdo ...

.... makes you wonder if the critics only fancy pretty boys tbh, Connor still has his fan club on here ;)

These are weaknesses, but not his most serious deficiencies.

Number one problem, he doesn't have any tattoos does he? I mean, how can a young man be really decent in any field without a fair bit o skin patterns these days?

Never rise above mid-table Championship without a 'too or two, says I.

I think he is more frantic than ungainly, I would liken him more to Jamie Vardy, likes to actually run at them giving them a decision to make, he does lose the ball quite often but he will also beat his man and win free kicks anarl, he's basically an annoyance that especially L1 defenders won't like to be up against, Kimpionka (sp) imo has more similarities to Wanchope, and he will give those same defenders a different set of nightmares, great to have exciting lads as options, add in Wyke, Maja and Sinclair and that's a lot of boxes ticked especially at this level.

no one knows whether he is champioanhip level...my view of his ability os he is less good than asoro because it was asoror who got the move in the summer..and asoro is not tearing up the championship..now thats not an exact omparator of course but its the best guide we have..

Injury free this lad will do very well in The Championship, no probs.

Jeez, there’s an element to our support that has a massive sense of entitlement about our status. We are now a league one club, judge players on that standard not premier league.

Some people seem to hang around the club like a ball of negative energy just waiting to pounce on anything they can construe as a failure or disappointment. I’m convinced it’s a trait that has contributed to our last 80 years of shite performance.

Let’s try giving support and encouragement to the lad, eh?

£2m in January
Could be. Marco was saying on Tertel Spert last week that he has no loyalty to the club, he got injured playing for Sunderland etc. I took that as being there's a possibility he would leave in Jan.

Who has no loyalty to Sunderland ?
If it's Watmore he was talking about ,how would he know ,he has fuck all knowledge of what is happening at the club.
Watmore is intelligent enough to know he is better off here ,while he is getting match fit .
The only way he would leave ,is if the club accept an offer for him ,due to his relatively high wages .
Be disappointed if that was to happen .

Marco's his agent isn't he? (or at least he's a director of Watmore's agency)
