Well he was good enough to play in the Premier league a couple of years ago. He was also a star player for England u21s so if he can get back to full fitness I don't see why he couldn't be again.

You are a good poster marra but when it comes to our young players I think you post with your head down ffs. I thought his over all game was very good last night and he showed how good of a player he could be for us.
And some get very carried away with how good they are.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

He's anything but
 I've seen some nonsense but friggin' hell.

If he can get back to what he was then he'll, easily, cut it at Championship level.

One thing I do hope doesn't happen to him is that he's over coached. He's raw and direct and they're his biggest strengths. McClean was similar when he burst on the scene but the following season we had him cutting inside and trying to add to much to his game to soon

There's no way we could afford to buy a player, of his quality, in January .... we're very lucky to have him.

Agreed, he is a plus for us. Let's just hope he get's back to full match fitness quickly, he is definitely another option that can win us games!

Watmore hasn't got great touch or vision and isn't an but he has an incredible cutting edge with his pace both running off the ball and his running with the ball and also his finishing can win matches. The challenge he has / we have is a good one - Gooch, McGeady, McGuire all have the similar stuff in their locker and he has competition. Its a far cry from the negative deadlegs of Martin O Neill who rarely passed the half way line.

Still has pace. Still plays with his head down.

If you think the former is more important than the latter then he remains good, if not, then he remains limited.

I think he will learn a great deal more very quickly from our management team with its training and coaching guys.

For god sake people are writing Watmore off after one comeback game, his first competitive match for about 2 year, you cannot count last season because he was coming back from his first serious injury. Let the lad get fit both physically and mentally and then judge him.
It's the way too many of our fellow fans operate. They have done so for decades.

The club seems to take coaching seriously for the first time in yonks.

Typical SMB bi-polar.

1. Local Lad: Therefore either "World Class" or "Shite"
2. Academy product: see 1.
3. Serious Injury. Either "We've never seen his best (even before injury)" or "Soft as shit, I don't even believe he was really injured"

His run out looked pretty good for his first proper game back after repeated injury, and I believe hitting the net counts for something IIRC. How anyone can proclaim he will either "never make it"" or "Isn't very good" and equally is justification to "let other players go" is beyond belief. The sad thing is the above views will hold firm for some posters regardless of what happens over the rest of the season. Best case scenario the negative side just stop posting about him, if that happens we are probably promoted, then he "won't be good enough for the Championship" or "We'll never hold on to him".

He offers something very different to Maja and Wyke so for that reason he’s an asset to the team.

He’s quick and direct but he needs to get his head up.

People whoa are saying he has no end product are judging him as Watmore the winger. He’s not a winger he’s a natural finisher, although he’ll be very disappointed with his effort last night that only ended up in the net through a lucky rebound.
A natural finisher????

I just post what I think.

I think Pickford looked an outstanding talent from a young age and I was calling for his inclusion in our side much earlier than most and I was challenged by some saying we shouldn’t chuck him into a struggling top flight side. I thought he was good enough and confident enough to deal with it. I still think he has potential to be one of the best in the world.

I thought Henderson was full of talent but always looked like he was playing within himself or was reluctant to really grab a game (still think that to an extent). He has developed very well since he departed.

I thought Colback had the makings of a competent top flight player initially. He looked tidy, he was tough and was handy in a number of positions. I was wrong.

I still don’t think Honeyman or Gooch have the ability to be good players at a level above where we are now. They are competent and decent respectively at this level but that’s as far as I think they’ll go. I may be wrong about being decent at the level above.

I think Watmore will be excellent in this division. I think he’ll do well in the championship. I don’t think he will ever be a good top flight player.

I think Mumba and Maja have a lot of the raw ingredients to have successful careers at a higher level than this. Hard to really judge just how far they’ll go at this stage given their age.

Whether they’re local, from outside of the region, foreign or from the moon is irrelevant IMO. There’s no bias either to or against our academy players from me.

I swear people dislike him because he's ginger and called Duncan

If he was called Deontay and had a red mohican like cisse everyone would be wanking themselves silly
