Was Preston's cheating the low (or is it high) watermark for time wasting.

We gave away a free kick after 3/4 seconds, and it took them the best part of 40 seconds to take it.

That set the tone - yet it took until the last few minutes for the referee to book their keeper, and even after that he continued but the referee simply refused to look at him.

Sympathy with the referee for certain parts, but he could also have done more to stop it earlier.

That bellend got up then started rolling around holding his face. Then another went down. Then another. Then subbed 1 off and he didn't even leave the field.

If the ref gets some sort of control it would help. Start dishing cards out for blatant cheating and time wasting. That was worse than some of the shit we had to put up with in League 1.

That one where he didn't leave the field they held up the wrong number. Dunno if it was a genuine error or PNE saw it as an opportunity to waste more time by occupying the officials' time by making them aware of the 'error'. I agree it was ridiculous and the ref quickly lost control. The first one where the player re-entered the field should've been booked as you need the permission of the ref to do so.

Far worse than even previous world shithousery champions Oxford United. Congratulations on the new award Preston.

Horrific to watch and downright embarrassing. Karma when the prick was off the pitch when we scored would've been the icing on the cake if we scored a winner. Karma also for their manager who instructed them to act like that as their antics fired up the crowd and the team and we got an equaliser which we didn't look like getting.
If it continues I will stop going. The cheating and goal kicks/free kicks taking over a minute is laughable and we are all getting robbed, 9 minutes added should have been 14/15.
I said to the lads on the sports bar it should've been 15 minutes. Would've been great if we scored a winner at the death and our goal celebrations would've been the players rolling around feigning injury.

I had no opinion on Feckinbottom until last night, and this morning it has only got worse after his comments reported in the Echo. All the officials fault apparently, nowt to do with his industrial scale cheating schemes. Then I think maybe he has a point - if the ref had shown a few cards for it, it might have stopped sooner.
Preston boss gives view on 'absolute carnage' that unfolded in Sunderland draw
He’s an utter wanker, as is his little hobbit assistant

It's quite easy really. Any player goes down and then receives treatment off another player or physio they go off the pitch for 10 minutes. No iff or buts, 10 minutes. Keepers going down with cramp is a f***ing embarrassment of the highest order. Professional players going down with cramp, really.....? Get them off the pitch and you will stop it over night.

It really is turning me off the game.

I hate it when the keeper has been booked for time wasting and then continues to do it with no consequences.
Referees turn their backs to the keeper so they “ apppear “ not to be watching the continuing “ gamesmanship “while the crowd goes nuts-I wish just once a ref would give a keeper a second yellow or at least face the issue head on-( It’s spoiling the game and Preston’s antics had to be a directive of their msnager tonight -shocking that and from a team who has little to play for )
Aye Patto no stranger to doing this as well

Just been on the PNE forum and most of their fans weren't happy with their behaviour towards the end. Basically saying there was no need and it just served to get the crowd and the players going.
If they’d have held on for the win would they have the same opinion? No doubt they’d be all for it as it’ll have worked.

They didn’t! They held up the no.3, he saw it and starting walking off in the opposite direction. Can be clearly seen on the full 90 on YouTube.

Stop the clock when a player goes down injured or when players take too long to restart play.
What about the lost momentum?
Time to work out what the average time the ball is in play in a selection of games where we’re confident there was no time wasting. Call that the new game length, stop the clock every time the ball goes out of play including throw ins free kicks injuries goals subs. No incentive to time waste, we play 33:42 seconds half regardless.
There'd still be an incentive to time waste. To break momentum, to allow time to reorganise, to have a breather.

That’s what annoys me about refs stopping the game and justifying him stopping it by tapping his watch, as if to say time will be added on. Not only do they not add all of the time on, but they’re also missing the point of the stoppage in the first place - to break up play and the momentum. I’ve seen games totally swing on a two minute breather for the defending team by the keeper sitting down.
