Was Dariusz Kubicki any good?

In contrast to many on here, I never felt that he was outstanding, but he was a solid and dependable performer in the Championship.

He was certainly far better than what came before (Owers) and after (Hall). Until Scotty arrived, Kubicki also looked far better than his full back partner who was generally Ord played out of position or Martin Gray. Kubicki actually played a few games at left back with Owers or Hall on the right, and looked competent there too.

We didn't see much of him as a Premier League right back, as he played much of his time on the left, with Hall on the right. From memory Scotty got injured and Mickey Gray generally played in midfield. He would almost certainly have looked better in his natural position on the right.
Now there was another shower of shite :)

That was Southampton away in Coton's last game. And it was half the length of the pitch hd ran.

Ah yes.

I'd say that it was like in slow motion watching the horror unfold, but that was probably just Hall's chubbawubba manfat creating an optical illusion.

Could have sworn Hall was sent off on his debut. But my mind could be playing tricks.

I'm certain Hall was sent off away at Leicester on his debut.
The derby game may have been his 'debut' after signing permanently.

Kubicki was a good solid quick full back at championship level. Can't quite believe how someone hasn't heard of him until today mind.

Few of my mates never heard of him either, ones 24 other 22. A bet most fans under 20 have never heard of him. Except most won't admit to it if asked.

Excellent player - it is one of the eternal mysteries of the universe how he was dropped for Gareth Hall - a player who would make any short list for worst Sunderland Player.

By all accounts Reid knew he was going to break the record and dropped him out of spite. Well that's the story Micky Gray tells.

Rt
He wasn't nippy like...A decent secomd tier full back who liked to hit it long. Often makes worst ever villa elevens and was bizarly dropped by reid! He'd be slated if he played for us now.

He would be slated now I agree,., as would makin and kay. Not good enough going forward. Oddly Bardsley gets slated aswell (before he was a casino £50 note bell end) but he is better than kubicki.

Kubicki was a canny player though.
