Walking routes/locations in or near Sunderland?

There’s various threads but didn’t know which to choose to post in.

Looking to go somewhere for a nice little walk (3-5 mile or so) today.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

drop onto beach ,back up under viaduct
along dene into Hawthorn. then back through dene along top path and back along to car
Did this very route a couple of weeks ago. It is a good one, loads of variety and not too busy.

Just follow the Durham Heritage Trail, walk as far as you fancy and turn back on yourself. Beautiful coastline.

Penshaw monument up and ower the back through the woods down towards the golf club , through the style down to river, turn right and go all the way along til you get to a white house. Take
The steps before up to the old lines then either go right along the lines back towards the monument or you can go left then right up to Offerton and through Offerton then the field back to the monument

Regular walk for us is from St Peters metro down the River and along the coast. Generally double back by Fisherman's cottages then go for fish n chips on sea front, bait at The Cliff or Harbour View for a pint.
In better weather we will carry on to Souter, Grotto or Shields.
Very lucky to have such a lovely coasine

Bottom of Barnes park and just continue through the nexts parks. Can go all the way to Herrington park if you want to avoid the roads. Over Burdon lane at Silksworth and through towards Seaham is good but the new build houses either side at the Burdon lane side spoils the first 15mins.

Elba Park & herrington park loop
Penshaw village down the bank to cox green along to fatfield & back over
Fatfield to Washington village

We live pretty much on seaburn front and do this walk almost daily so wanting something a little different ha!

Go the other way, Roker, past the glass centre and along the river. End your walk at the times Inn for a pint and a picture next to a Mexican version of Kevin Philllipsy.
