Vince, Malan and Ballance

Johnathan Agnew tweeting it's been leaked:

Root, Cook, Stoneman, Malan, Ballance, Vince, Moeen, Crane, Foakes, Bairstow, Stokes, Woakes, Broad, Anderson, Ball, Overton.

If true, that is absolutely f***ing horrendous.
 
I hope Stokes leathers the lot of them :)

At first I thought it was a hoax. I mean Stokes and Woakes aye.... but Foakes ? Who are these selector blokes?

Absolute jokes.
 
Oh that is very weak.

I think there is a general feeling that everything is completely muddled, and I think people don't have much faith with management.

We had a period when some real talents came into the squad over a few years, Root, Stokes, Ali, Bairstow

I am not going to start the Vince thing again, I hope the lad scores a shit load of runs, but has he even scored any this year? He also seems extremely flakey as a charachter

And that bowling attack is just bizarre. I reckon that is the end to Mark Wood's test career.
 
I can only assume the selectors think Vince will thrive in Aussie conditions.. off the backfoot at pace?
I know Malan is a strong cutter and puller

Jeetan Patel and Ryan McClaren have scored more championship runs.

608 and 602 for them 596 for Vince. There is literally no reason to select Vince.

That squad is utterly pathetic. Bayliss will have to go after this series when we get spanked.

BBC viewers have picked a better squad than our f***ing selectors.

It is interesting that yesterday Vaughan tweeted his squad and had Vince in, I wonder if he has Strauss's ear?

The problem is, I have no idea who is selecting the players, Root got Ballance back in the team this summer, it also seems like he has had some influence in Rashid being axed.

Is Bayliss, Strauss, Fraser, Newell, who has final say, nobody has a clue, and it leaves you with muddled thinking.

I mean who was responsible for Dawson and where has he gone? That seemed like a Bayliss pick to me.

The Vince thing is a bit fishy to me, conflicted interests all over the place.

They all had Vince in despite nobody really mentioning him a few weeks back.

The conflict of interest is laughable. It's what got him selected first time around and he was awful.

Imagine picking someone with a top score of 42 in test cricket, who has done bugger all since going back to county cricket. Who has no idea what his off stump is.

To come back in against an attack that could contain Starc,Cummins and Pattinson bowling 93 mph howitzers.
 
They reckon vincey willis will do well with the ball coming onto bat. Barry gallance is a root pick pure and simple. Joke. Malan showed a bit of fight to me so may do OK. Quite happy to see crane but plunkett should have been ahead of overton the second.

I wouldn't have taken Ballance to Australia but his pick his a million more times justified than someone like Vince, as he was the dominant batsman in the division before injuries.

What I would say, is that there are not massively right or rang answers, Jennings scored 7 100s last year, and got found out.

But in my opinion we should have tried 2 new players, there are lads out there scoring runs, who should get ago.

Ballance has had about 6 cracks at it. Vince 1.

and personally, I reckon ballances issues at test level lie more upstairs then on the field.

His biggest problem is how few shots he has, he has a nice cover drive, but it only gets you 4 runs, you can't score 100s with one shot. He could never get a single leg side, or drop and run.

As I say, he has my support like, it is not his fault and he will be desperate to do well. But the selection policy is becoming a farce, everyone knows I am a big Strauss fan, but the last 12 months that has gone, especially with his comments about Botham and Durham last wee.

I don't get your point. I wouldn't have picked either, but you can't compare Ballance to Vince. Ballance was averaging nearly a 100 when he was recalled.
