Marra = mate.

I think it's from mining, you went down the mine with a marra, someone to look after you.
Or I could be wrang like

Yer not wrang, yer marras alway looked after you and you looked after them.
It's a term that's passed into general usage in the Durham area but it'll probably die out with my generation, I've started getting called "bud" by some of the younguns and that really pisses me off.

What a shit board this has become. Hopefully the west brom fans won't make judgement based upon the retards on here.

My two penneth.

Never liked WBA, frankly, since the Mowbray days and the rash claims of superiority despite the fact we were the best team in the league. That aside tho I like their tradition. I like the away trip.

Nice one bud

Apologies if some of you had their replies not included. I've tried to include you all, It's quite a struggle when you have to search through 13 pages with half of the replies rabbling on about this message board and our history

Hi,

As a moderator on www.westbrom.com we run a weekly view from the opposition where I ask you a set of question and you respond with your answers. Later on this week I shall form an article with a selection of replies and post the article into this topic later on this week.

Apologies to the admin of the site if this is breaking any forum rules. Any replies are appreciated.

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?

We're not losing too many but we haven't won too many either. Performances have been vastly improved in the last few games so it looks as if we're clicking into gear.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?

Very impressive. You play nice football and attack with pace. It'll be interesting to see if you can keep it up.

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward?

Yes. Slow start but not terrible. He's assembled a good side and we're starting to gel now.

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?

Always preferred you out of all of the midlands clubs.

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?

Top 10 finish.

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?

Top half/mid-table. I don't think you'll be challenging the European places.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?

Fletch scores whenever he gets a clear chance at goal at the minute. Something like 6 goals in 11 shots. Johnson is starting to show how good he is and Sessegnon's goal against Fulham will give his confidence a major boost. Long and Odemwingie are both very quick whilst our centre backs aren't. Mulumbu is a very good player as well though i'm looking forward to seeing him lose the midfield battle against Cattermole ;)

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?

Cattermole desperately needs a partner. He is a superb, combative midfielder but he needs someone beside him to get on the ball and makes things happen. Someone like James Morrison ;)

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?

The same side that beat Fulham, though I hope Gardner replaces Bardsley at right back.

10. And finally, score predictions.

2-1 Sunderland. Fletcher and Sessegnon for us. Long for you.

Thanks

And here's to an entertaining game!

There you go.

Seeing as I was a nasty WUM and now I feel bad;

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?

Must try harder. We've got off to a very slow start and up until the last two matches where I've seen a glimmer of hope, I was quite worried about relegation. We've had an unfortunate set of fixtures in that in the majority they've been away games, however if we don't continue to improve we'll be running the risk of a bottom 3 finish.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?

Batting above their average. Doing extremely well at the moment, but clearly struggled with away games. I'd be surprised if they finished above mid-table, but an excellent start none the less.

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward?

Yes. He needs time to build a squad he likes and that will probably mean waiting until next summer when we can see some real change. Stability is key and keeping O'Neill as manager is necessary to get that stability.

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?

Adrian Chiles supports WBA. He's annoying. Other than that, not really bothered either way, don't like or dislike WBA.

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?

Ideally finish around 10th. Realistically I'd take anything between that and 17th. I'm expecting a good run of form, followed by a post christmas dip and then finish the season with a good run. A man can dream.

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?

Between 10th and 17th. No chance of Europe.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?

Fletcher, Johnson, Rose and Mignolet. Morrison looks very good at the moment, Long looking quite dangerous.

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?

We need a big, strong attacking central midfielder. Probably a better winger than McClean unless he suddenly tightens up his game.

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?

Same side from Fulham away.

10. And finally, score predictions.

2-1
