1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season? A lot better than last year. If we'd won at West Ham & Swansea (which we should have), it would have been a very good start.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season? The stuff of dreams!

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward? If being beaten twice in 11 games is "slow". MON is definately the right man.

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters? Still a Community Club who hasnt sold out to the Corporates like many other PL clubs have done.

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season? 10th and a very boring last 6 games where nothing is really at stake.

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe? Mid table at best. Hull, Blackpool & Wigan have all had great starts only to be found out due to lack of quality in reserve.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems? Fletcher & Sess. Long & Odemwingie.

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening? Someone who can create more chances for Fletcher. Our midfield is too workmanlike.

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday? Unchanged from the win at Fulham. Hopefully McClean wont even be on the bench, but thats another story!

10. And finally, score predictions.

2-1 to us. With 4 home games coming up in the next few weeks, this is the time for us to start climbing the league table. I expect us to be in the top 10 by the time Chelsea come to town.

Thanks

And here's to an entertaining game!

Here, here!

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?
Not very good, really, although I saw a few encouraging things the last two games. Win, lose or draw, we've been very difficult to watch, and a lot of our results have come from scoring every single chance we've made, which is not sustainable.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?
Better, obviously, than ours, and I'd be pinching myself if Sunderland were five points off the title a third of the way in.

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward?
I don't think so, no, just based on the percentage of managers who actually do end up taking clubs forward. We don't even pass it forward sometimes.

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?
American, so it's not like I've ever met a WBA supporter

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?
Consolidation and a boring lower-mid-table finish. I think there's too much talent in the side to go down, but at the same time I don't see where a magic run of form is going to come from.

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?
6th-10th. It's possible, yeah. Newcastle did it.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?
Danny Rose has been the best thing about this season for us. I think most of us were skeptical about him replacing Richardson, a player who divided opinions but generally did a steady job, but he's been great. Mignolet's come into his own in goal and he's bailed us out a few times. Fletcher's been a real threat in front of goal, for context I think he's only missed one or two decent chances. WBA is much stronger than Sunderland in central midfield with Yacob and Mulumbu, as has already been pointed out numerous times, and they'll look to press that advantage. I don't see us keeping the ball a lot in this game, even less so than usual.

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?
A new central midfielder to play alongside Cattermole (who really has been very good) is the obvious choice, as Jack Colback is not as ready as we thought he was coming into the season. Still, I'm one who thinks our problems with regards to generating chances and keeping the ball are probably more tactical than personnel-based. We're very defensive.

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?
Mignolet, Gardner, O'Shea, Cuellar, Rose, Cattermole, Colback, Johnson, Sessegnon, Larsson, Fletcher. Larsson doesn't actually do anything, but when we play as negatively as we do we like having his set pieces as something to get a scrappy one from.

10. And finally, score predictions.
2-1 to WBA, two goals from Long, one from Fletcher.

Are the opening posts jokes or are you being serious?

I'm not here to gloat at all, in-fact, far from it. The questionnaire was something which was started prior to our opening fixture against Liverpool so the suggestion that I'm here to gloat is far from the truth.

I was actually expecting to catch you in a decent mood after today's victory but obviously I was wrong!
you should have seen it 2 weeks ago.:lol:

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?
Slightly disappointing overall, but a massive win last sunday, and considering we have had 7 of our 11 games away, to have 12 points is not too many less than i was expecting. performances in first 9 games were poor mind.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?
quality. you have some really good players, but was surprised by how well clark has taken to management. to have 23 points from 11 games (and to have played chelsea, man city, everton, spurs and liverpool in those games) is nothing short of superb. saw your match against newcastle, and i still cant believe you lost that, after controlling the game

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward?
defo. the best manager we have had since i have followed the club. started amazingly, went off he boil at the back end of last season. not the best start, but hopefully we can push on, starting this weekend ;)

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?
nowt against wba, favourite out of the 'midlands four'. would have considered you an average 8-12th club, but proved wrong their so far. good fans, make plenty of noise as well.

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?
to pick the majority of our points up at home, finish between 10th and 14th, win a couple of fa cup games, dream about getting to wembley, before getting our dreams crushed by a lower ranked side

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?
def top 10 now. think the top 6 will sort itself out, with you, liverpool and another surprise team battling for that 7th spot, which may (depending on cup winners be enough for europe)

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?
definitely fletcher because he scores when he wants. johnson has looked a little better in his last 2 games, so he could be classed as a dangerman. sessegnon has bypassed most of our games so far, but as you saw on sunday he is capable of producing that moment of class. we also have one of the best keepers in the leage.
i rate morrison and mulumbu as your 2 best players. think cattermole will have to be on form to win the battle of midfield. catts v mulumbu could be interesting ;)

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?
central midfield massively. if we kept our squad and added a quality central midfielder, i would be delighted. mulumbu would do the job ;)

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?

mignolet
bardsley carlos o'shea rose
colback catts
AJ sess mcclean
fletch

10. And finally, score predictions.
2-0 to the lads. will be a tough game, but is def a game where home advantage is telling. if it was at the hawthornes i would be delighted with a point, and would be expecting a similar score in reverse. but at home, with a decent crowd, buzzing from an unexpected win, i just think we will get the job done. it will be a bit nervy though. cliche, but first goal is crucial, and i reckon fletch will get it.

Thanks
you're welcome

I know.
They've been in ten fa cup finals, won the league a couple of times, the league cup too, and some of this since the 50's. We've got a proud history, but since the f***ing war have won the fa cup in 73.

Yet cos we fill 80 percent of our bigger stadium some think we're the bigger club.
What sort of crowds do you think the baggies would get this season if they had a 48k stadium.

Ah yes, all those trophies we won in the 1800's and early 1900's.
We're truly the bigger club

I never said we were bigger but there's no reason to ignore our history.

I never said we were bigger but there's no reason to ignore our history.

I knar man.
I don't ignore our history. Proud as fuck, I just get irritated with ignorant safc fans who put other clubs down. It was in response to vermin or someone, not you bud, who was gushing about how we're so much bigger a club than WBA.
He won't have had a clue about any of their history , of which recently pisses all over anything we've done

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?
Poor. Very Poor.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?
Incredible. A team with not quite the same level of financial clout and star names as Sunderland is doing ten times as better.

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward? I am undecided. I want to see a few more wins before I say for sure MON is the right one

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?
Lucky.

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?
Not much.

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?
Top 8 and IMHO you can get your passports out now.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?
Can't think of one from our team to look out for and everyone from WBA could give us problems right now.

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?
Everywhere.

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?
The same one as Fulham.

10. And finally, score predictions.
Sunderland 1 - 1 WBA

Thanks

And here's to an entertaining game!

I was actually expecting to catch you in a decent mood after today's victory but obviously I was wrong!

They are canny lads really. Sorry, I meant morons.

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?

Frustrating but slowly we're getting there.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?

Excellent, some very good players

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward?

Yes, without doubt

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?

Neither like them or dislike them. A canny club.

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?

Progress and a top ten finish

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?

Top ten, europe a step too far.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?

Sess, Johnson and Fletcher

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?

Centre midfield and right back

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?

Same as Fulham, posibly Gardner in for Bardsley or Colback

10. And finally, score predictions.

2-1 to Sunderland

I think Liam, quite rightly has fucked off and asked a more reasonable forum, which is a shame cos after the initial barrage of abuse there has been some good replies.

Not the case mate.

I was tempted just to forget about this weeks but after seeing the amount of replies from the decent Sunderland supporters it would be rude of me not to use them.

1. What are your opinions on the start Sunderland have made to the season?

Frustrating and underwhelming. Too many key players being utterly hopeless, and relying on Steven Fletcher scoring from the one chance he gets per game.

2. What are your opinions on the start WBA have made to the season?

Suberb. Why the fuck can't Morrison play like that for Scotland?

3. You've made a slow start to the season, is Martin O'Neill the right man to take Sunderland forward?

I never had any doubts about him short term, though I had some concerns about his long term suitability. I expect him to turn it around this season though. A year or two down the line, I will be interested (hopeful) to see if he has evolved as a manager, even at his age.

4. What are your opinions on WBA as a football club alongside it's supporters?

I no have no strong opinion either way really. It was soured a bit by the bitterness of Tony Mowbury once, but otherwise I have forgiven. ;)

5. What are you expecting from Sunderland from the remainder of the season?

An improvement. Particularly from our two "star players", Sessegnon and Johnson.

6. Where do you reckon WBA will finish and do we have a chance of Europe?

I think you will fade but remain in the top half. Probably just miss out on Europe, but it is certainly achievable if you keep your important players fit.

7. What players in your team should we look out for, and who in our team do you reckon will give you the most problems?

The aforementioned "star players" hopefully turning up, and then of course Fletcher. From your team? I guess the two strikers will be a worry, particularly Odemwingie. Our defenders don't like fast strikers much.

8. January is looming, is there any particular position which needs strengthening?

Centre midfield is the most glaring. And now that Johnson is finally being played on the left, I would like to see a new right sided player.

9. What side is Martin O'Neill likely to choose on Saturday?

Unchanged from Fulham.

10. And finally, score predictions.

2-1 to us. Fletcher and Sessegnon. Odemwingie for you.

Exactly this. West Brom want to beat us, they really couldn't give a shit about Sunderland. As already mentioned, if they'd had a poor start there is no chance this lad would be on here wanting our thoughts on their season.

My point will be proved when this thread ends up on their messageboard and we see the comments from their fans.

It's fairly common for clubs to ask these questions from opposing fans, before every match.

These threads always get some decent replies mate, ignore the shite posted by some at the start.

Get the finished article posted once you are done, and good luck after the weekend :)
