Get into an argument with a poster who has the same name as a disgraced ex Sunderland player

Done that often. Need to increase abuse levels.

If Allardyce wants him I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. We've clearly learned nothing about judging players - let's see how he does before sticking the boot in eh?

I get that. But if Anichebe is too injury prone and unproductive for even Pulis, who loves his massive rarely scoring strikers as long as they're seemingly massive and rarely score, even to the point he'll leave out some quite talented players to fit them in, then I'm out. I also don't believe we're either that skint or Allardyce has lost his marbles, so I'm out on that score too.

Sam was saying about signing four players good enough for the first team and Anichebe isn't. Hopefully this window will be all about quality additions rather than quantity.

We literally have one proper striker now Fletcher and Graham have left. Strikers command large fees so as long he's our 3rd choice at best I don't see any issue with it.

He's a big lad who can come on and cause a bit mischeif late in games, fair enough signing for nowt.

We've been signing bodies to fill the squad for 10 summers now. We should be aiming to get some competition for places going.

We need to get away from that mentality.

End of the day we have a certain amount of money to spend, let's say £35M (probably less!) We need 2 strikers, an attacking, centre midfielder and a right back at the very least. We're not going to recoup much cash on out goings.

Bargains like Kirchhoff and Kone are very few and far between. To get quality players let's say we have to pay circa £10M each for defender and midfielder but more for a good striker say £15M.

We need 2 strikers but we're now out of cash. Hence we need a squad player, not to start games, just as back up from the bench...

Why do we need two out and out strikers when we play with one up front (and already have Borini who can play through the middle)?

We need to be more shrewd and try and find another 1 or 2 like Kone and Kirchoff. I'm not saying buy cheap, but we've paid big fee's and it's got us nowhere. I expect some wheeling and dealing and a few palms been greased.

Borini doesn't score enough goals to play through the middle.

I'm not disagreeing that we need quality, we need a good, young striker to replace Defoe over the course of the next couple of seasons. I'd rather spend £15 on one striker and have one freebie than have 2 for £7M or £8M each.

I think we need someone who gives us a different option, a big lad. But why can't we go and find an Ingahlo, our own hidden gem, plenty other clubs have.

Every team, in every league in Europe is looking for bargains like we got. To get 2 signings of that quality at the same time is nearly as rare as a team like Leicester winning the league. It's never happened before in the 35 years I've supported the club!

I just think it's more common now to go and find these players from abroad. Sometimes it might just be about been in the right place at the right time. Other teams seem to be able to do it, Southampton, West Ham, Leicester, Swansea all seem to have gone out and scouted the quality we need.

Apart from Ighalo I'm not sure any of those teams have signed an out and out goal scorer on the cheap?

Vardy was ex non league and cheap but that probably hasn't happened since SKP over 15 years ago.

I think we might go back for the lad Babacar from Fiorentina, 6ft 3, 23 year old, wouldn't be a starter and we allegedly tried to sign him in January.

Which is exactly what I think we will do.
