Very good window

The same Honeyman that virtually everybody was clammering to be Captain after we were relegated from the Championship and he made that speech?

This never happened ... though not leaderships that is his problem. His just not good enough

I'd say tarra to
Baldwin..Loovens..Oviedo..McGeouch
If by end of Aug Wyke & Griggs still not scoring then bring in 2 replacements

The squad looks balanced and RTG

I have no idea how the new signings will get on, we all hope the hit the ground running and we get off to a flyer, but not many (if any) have seen enough of them to 100% say they are what we needed.

My biggest concern is we still look to have a lop sided squad and every formation posted has the odd square peg in a round hole or a hope player x will do a job there
LB worries me. Assuming Ovideo goes that will only leave us with Hume. Whilst Hume is good going forward he is weak defending and still has a lot to learn. It would be a really big ask of the lad.

He's the only one in the last 2 year I've heard of

I think the standards down here in L1 have come as a shock to all of us. It's telling that most of the best players from last season were already at the club and the signings we made were by and large poor.

Pretty much all the areas of concern from last season addressed and Ross looks to be recruiting some strong characters too. On top of that McGeady and Mclaughlin signed new deals and the likes of Embleton also penned new deal.

Just as importantly though we have moved on

Catts, Love, Ruiter, Matthews, Oviedo (hopefully).

That is all those on Prem money now gone barring Watmore and we look to have recruited well too. Cannot wait till a week on Saturday now.

Haway the Lads.

*doh, need to hang on to J Mac, thought he had signed an extension already.
could have done either another centre back and a left footer or two but the window hasn't been awful in fairness.

So two players costing £4m and more than likely on above average wages for the league and up for sale because they're still playing crap are shipped out on the last day of the season and their replacements brought in simultaneously. I can see a slight flaw in that plan marra

McGeady staying is huge for us. No way in a million years were we going to like for like let alone improve on him. Catts will also be a miss which you wouldn't have thought.

Pleased we’ve added some more leaders to the side and I think Dobson, Willis and McLaughlin bring solidity as well as having good experience. All seem to be well thought of by their previous clubs.

McNulty could be decent - sounds like he has similar attributes to Grigg but hopefully will work a lot harder (apparently a plus point of him), plus he seems to pick up assists as well as goals so hopefully that will help with that side of things.

Potentially promising, though only time will tell whether we have recruited well.

I'm struggling to imagine what formation / what tactics Ross will use now that we have 2 proven(?) strikers at this level. Surely with McNulty and Grigg fit we have to be playing with 2 up front especially given we have Wyke / Kimpioka as back up?

I'm not convinced. We'll miss Cattermole. Dobson doesn't sound great, and that's coming from Walsall fans, maybe a change of scene will help him. Almost every player we've signed since we've been down here has been shit.

For me I have little up no faith in Ross to get them playing decent attacking football. That's my major concern.

They were full of praise for him when we were originally linked a few weeks back, mind.

Seems they have changed their tune - think he has forced the move.

Not sure they were. I appreciate that forums obviously aren't the best place to hear great critique and balanced views, but the consensus seems to be that he's okay, nothing flash. It's hardly inspiring stuff.

Seems a good lad though and at least it sounds like he'll graft.

Maybe search the threads at the time. For me I have no issue with him as Captain, never stops grafting, great pro, represents the club really well.......

I love the way this place rewrites history, half way through last season people started banging on about why Catts wasnt captain over Honeyman, conveniently forgetting that virtually everyone had slaughtered him in the summer and wanted him gone.

You've just rewritten history by claiming virtually everyone was clamouring for Honeyman to be captain. They weren't

Considering our plan this summer was to first bring in investment from outside parties and then sort player recruitment then this has been an excellent window for me. I’d still like a few to leave like Oviedo, Honeyman and Loovens but the chances of more than one of those 3 leaving are slim to say the least.

Was Loovens not brought in for the sole purpose of coaching / helping the other young players develop their skills? If this is the case I can't imagine he will be on big wages at all and could potentially prove to be invaluable.

Yup.
This time next month we'll have enough games to see if he's gone a bit more positive.
Also, there's always that slight hope that Grigg and Wyke were just injured last season and will be firing on all cylinders

40+ goals between them this season you just watch :p
