Alex has been pissing about with new designs hasn’t he? Looking forward to the next one likeJust 311 days till the start now lads and lasses. Not much happened since the last one eh!
Yes.Brand new yacht built last year. First competitive outing in the Transat Jacques Vabre didn’t go well. Hit an unknown object, presumably a container box, and nearly took the keel right off. They limped to the Cape Verde islands where the boat was loaded onto a ship and is now back in the UK being sorted.Alex has been pissing about with new designs hasn’t he? Yes you would think so but amazingly loads don't. On the last thread on the race we had a discussion on this after Alex had hit something and damaged one of the foils which lifts the boat out of the water at speed. I forget who gave us the statistics but there are loads of containers lost at sea every year and if they hold little or no cargo, they are air and water tight, so they float just under the water creating the hazard. How do they hit containers? I can imagine some falling off ships but thought they would be so heavy they would sink instantly
What do you reckon his chances are in the next race? Has he been racing since the last race?Yes.Brand new yacht built last year. First competitive outing in the Transat Jacques Vabre didn’t go well. Such a difficult task to do really. The new boat has been built to win with the vendee race in mind but there are so many variables. I think there have been more people been on the summit of K2 than have successfully completed a non stop circumnavigation. He has been racing but again the vendee is the only race of its kind every 4 years. What do you reckon his chances are in the next race? Has he been racing since the last race?
Cheers Mickey. All the best to you and yours too. Not long now.Happy New Year ByT! Looking forward to Alex's adventures in the Vendee.
