Outstanding performance.

but I don't buy these implications by some that MoN has been ignoring Vaughan. Fitness was an issue for Vaughan at the end of last season - from his own mouth in an interview, his more recent performances until Bolton have been poor. He looked a different player. I don't think MoN plays his favourites - he really liked Meyler but he hardly ever got a game. He does go for experience though - wickam's the only one who'd be justified in feeling a bit agrieved.

And seb didn't "look better beside him". Larsson had an excellent game aswell. But vaughan mom.

N'Diaye might have to wait for his first start.
Lies.

And ask Gary Cahill.

Agree with this. I haven't been Vaughan's biggest fan over the past year but he was great today. That said, I still need convincing that he is the long term answer for us in the middle. If he can keep us this sort of form, fair enough
^Sheep. What a knacker.

He was excellent today and when he is on song, he does make us play decent, good to watch football as he has more movement than some and he is always wanting the ball and moved us forward more than some too, taking a few chances. This immediately takes the pressure off Seb and allows him to relax a bit. Colback and Gardner are both excellent at full back and all of a sudden, with one signing (N'Diaye) coming in, we seem to have genuine competition for places again.

I expected a tough afternoon today and Vaughan and Larsson in midfield had me a little worried but they were both excellent along with Titus, JoS and Fletch. A good all round team performance today

Agree with this - we have been shouting out for a central midfielder who shows for the ball and gets forward into the box and DV did the biz today. No surprise Sess had one of his best games this season with DV taking the strain off him.
But he has to keep doing it so lets hope he can.
MoM no doubt.

Outstanding today.

I can't argue, he was very good today, maybe he realises he is now playing for his future and this produces performances like today. He's set himself big standards now.

he's always been the calm, composed passer we need. Just unfortunate how things have went over the past while.

If Frankie was a new signing making his debut today we would be talking of him in same breath as Varga and Cana. Outstanding today. My man of the match.

Too long a thread but he was neat tidy, didn't give the ball away and was positive,, because of this McClean, Sess, Johnson and Fletcher all had possibly their best games today.

Just thought I'd add this to the Frankie wankfest, mate of mine lives in Cleadon and he and his family have some deal with the club to provide bed and board to academy youngsters and trialests etc and a couple of them have come back with glowing reports of how Vaughan stays back to train with them and coach them and give them pointers on their game, all off his own back and in his own time, nice touch.

Thought he was excellent throughout constantly pinching the ball off the opposition, some great little touches to take him away from the opposition in some tight spots and kept passing the ball to a Sunderland player. Just goes to show that you don't need to be a 6'2 brick shithouse to dominate games. It does show however you do need the rest of your team mates to perform around you.

Thought Diame was poor today.

That's great if true (no reason to doubt you at all). Need more senior players to do that.

I could watch the fella all day, he's so tidy. Love it. Hopefully him and Cattermole get in there as a midfield two, always rated them together, good balance.

Was he playing? Maybe you do miss things when you watch on the box.

I posted a while ago that Vaughan had everything needed to become a cult hero for us. He's a proper throwback - skillful, a grafter, intelligent, good attitude. No glamour or bloated ego, he suits our club to a tee. He could be for us what Beardsley was for the Mags.

He can play. He should start every week.
