Sums this board up talking absolute shite he can run 100m in 11 seconds was one of the fastest sprinters in the country at one point

Aye when he was about 10 before his body developed and he spent most of his early career on the treatment table with a number of severe knee injuries

Has a tendency to slow you down that you know

Some people need to realise that we are playing in the championship again.

Roy Keane went and signed Stern Jon, a journeyman striker at the time, because we needed a centre forward to hustle and bustle and win flick ons etc.

Vaughan is there for pretty much the same reason and he did his job well on Friday night. Grabban did some good running off the ball in and around him. Could see it being effective in certain games.

Totally agree. He'll play a similar role to Dichio under Reid.

Ok then "dick head", see what I did there. The lad did put in a decent shift as I mentioned previously, ran his socks off. However over his past 231 appearances his goals ratio is hardly that of a prolific striker, 71 goals, 24 came in league 1 his most prolific season and most likely his level, he scored 14 goals six years ago in the championship for Huddersfield and hasn't done it since. He has a nasty injury record which again worries me. To get anywhere near reaching playoffs, survive you need your front men to be prolific or have the quality to make things happen. He has neither from what I have seen unfortunately, not just one game but previously at Birmingham, Norwich, Palace, Leicester, Derby. I'd love to see him bang in loads of goals and get us back up but he hasn't done it in his career at this level, why would he do it now.

You do realise he has an almost identical scoring record in the Championship to Nakhi Wells. A striker who is valued at close to £8m by his club, and many on here thought would be a good addition.

We're in the Championship, he'll be a decent enough striker for us. I'd place a bet that he'll be better value to us than the bigger money signings Rodwell, Fletcher, Giaccharini, Alvarez, Lens etc etc.

He works hard, and despite what you say has a decent record in this league. The only season he hasn't played in the top two flights he bagged 24 goals.

You may be proven right in time, however yours is as much guesswork as ours for now. If anything he's more likely to be a decent signing at "this level" than a poor one. Lets get behind the lad eh?

Having watched the Leeds game yesterday. Bolton, who were pretty dreadful, were able to take possession into the opponent's half so successful by launching the ball every time to Gary Madine. Now Gary did a great job but he is effectively a yard dog.
If we can have a lad run and just cause the defenders problems positionally, that's going to do wonders in this division

Stern John never played in the 3rd tier.

Like I've said, I'll be more than happy for him to prove me wrong. I hope the lad repeats what he did last year.

Well said marra

Looked dangerous?

Unlucky to miss two penners on the spin as well as just generally being unlucky?
I know cost us six points the bastard. Fuck him off and let's sign someone for £14 million who will put us in debt and not give a shit about the club taking a massive wage. Then he can leave on a free and end up in the championship. Oh shit we already did that....Fletcher. Ok then let's sign a striker for 5 million who dosen't work as hard is slower less mobile and weaker and picks up 30 k a week and ends up in league 1 ...oh shit we already have had that one as well ...Graham.
Vaughan is already better than the majority of strikers we have had in the last five years barring one .I wouldn't call Vaughan a goal scoring machine but he creates problems for defenders which in turn creates space he is also a tenacious hard working battler who is strong and mobile. To get him and McGeady for under a million quid is already looking like very smart buisness.
