VAR It starts tonight!

Why would they introduce it if that was the aim? Seems a bit of a strange notion.
The problem is that offside is an exact rule, but VAR does not provide an exact tool. So, it does not mean that one inch offside will be seen as one inch offside.
Which again means that some correct decisions could be overturned into wrong decisions.

1 inch offside is still offside, and there's more chance of VAR with its crosshair technology picking up that inch than the referee or linesman. Accuracy will be higher.

The laws of football do not even state what a pass is. And still the VAR room is supposed to decide at what exact millisecond, because that is what we are talking, if we are also talking crosshair offside, a player is to be deemed offside or not.
So, it's obvious to me, that VAR and offside simply do not work.

Sounds more like a you problem, rather than a problem with VAR.

I'm hoping it will cause a few shock results because of the big teams not being able to get the benefit of the lack of spine in refs

The big teams win becuase they the best team with the best players, might not fit into what you trying to say.

But it’s simply true, Man City and Liverpool are where they are becuase they have the best players and best managers, it’s really that simple!

Would be very amateurish if Sky or any other media outlets weren't briefed on it, and everybody was just left guessing.
Carragher and Neville went to the VAR headquarters and met Neil Swarbrick and were talked through how the process works.
Think it's good that there's this transparency there, trying to spread information to keep football fans in the loop. Swarbrick has also done a series of interviews and appearances explaining how it will be implemented.

I think you've deliberately misunderstood my post. By "briefed" I mean they've been told to publicly defend it's use and try and bat away any criticisms. What happened at half time was farcical. No-one inside that stadium would have known why Michael Oliver was pissing about on the touchline and the assistant was running about passing his ear piece around but Carragher's sat there giving it the "these things happen, just teething problems" as if he's genuinely not concerned that 50,000 supporters are sat watching the referee play about with technology for 10 minutes. Do me a favour man.

f***ing exactly mate. Everyone on planet earth with a molecule of independent thought can see it. But a lot of folk will regurgitate any old shite they are told if it comes from 'the man' . Sad bastards

I’d be interested to know what % of these var haters were watching maradonas handball in 86 on the telly and everyone viewing on planet Earth was aware it shouldn’t have been allowed but the ref wasn’t?

As above.

I watched that hand ball as keen 8 year old follower of football. I still hate VAR with every fibre of my being.

Why can't the var ref be in the stadium like the German league rather than in a London hotel

Mind stupid question our VAR probably hogging the free bar

....and look what Maradonas done to you! You’d rather see cheating rewarded than see fair play triumph! You’ve been mentally scarred marra!
Btw I saw the recently released maradona documentary a few weeks back. It shows Fenwicks elbow to Maradonas face and that’s summit never seen on UK TV stations. Nasty.

Nor as an 8 year old I just remembered the other goal in that game. What a player

Is the offside rule implemented when the ball leaves the passing player's foot (after it is played) or when the passing player first makes contact with the ball? With the fine margins that cameras are able to utilise now this will make a difference in some cases but I'm unsure of the ruling on it.

The thing for me is without VAR lots of mistakes will happen, especially nowadays the game is simply too fast for just th3 human eye.

If people who don’t VAR are happy and accept them mistakes then fair enough!

The laws of football don't state, when a pass is a pass. So, there is no rule stating what is the exact moment to use when making the offside decision. Which makes VAR as an exact tool for offsides obselete.

I agree they are and they have but there are always games throughout the season where it's really tight and the big team gets an awful decision which wins them the game. Hopefully VAR will address this and give us some shock results
