In the premier league? I must of missed that
Looking forward to the raft of pathetic handball / minimal contact penalties that are awarded due to years of fans moaning about 'consistency'.
Also love how people band about the term 'clear and obvious' like it's a universally understood term in any given situation. Instead of debating whether there was an infringement on VAR people will just debate whether its clear and obvious instead. Repeatedly banging on about 'clear and obvious' doesn't help the VAR situation.
The sooner they bring in an appeal system the sooner all VAR issues will be ironed out.
Isn’t it supposed to stop debate? It’s still not clear whether the decision on the biggest stage of all was correct and every game appears to have a debate over whether someone’s pubic hair was offside!
I’d quite like to see it used for shirt pulling, but I’ve seen many games, particularly during the last World Cup where shirt pulling was rife and sod all was done about it, so I’m not holding my breath on that one.
They'll have to be stronger than that then won't they.No it won't. It'll go the other way and benefits divers as (as we have seen already) on VAR they simply look for any contact to give it.
What use is football without arguments and controversy?
That looks a cracking bet! My only worry is where the linesman are now told not to flag immediately for a tight offside but let play develop. I worry that if that attacking team then loses possession the ref will just play on rather than pull play back for the offside. Will have to see how it pans out
VAR and proper football in the 'BIG' league starts tonight!
You got that right.VAR and proper football in the 'BIG' league starts tonight!
Football ludditesNo worries.
Plenty of footballing luddites are against it because they don't like change, but it will also stop big teams getting dubious decisions as well imo.
Can't believe it has taken so long tbh.
Football luddites. People who love the real game you mean.
Or help referees get decisions wrong, they would otherwise have gotten rightVAR, huh? What is it good for?
Helping the refrees get decisions right where they'd have previously made an error.
Can't wait. Love progression in the sport.
Or help referees get decisions wrong, they would otherwise have gotten right
I'm hoping it will cause a few shock results because of the big teams not being able to get the benefit of the lack of spine in refs
People against progress.
Some of these nincompoops were probably against the introduction of the backpass rule, despite it being the best rule change ever.
The backpass rule was a simple rule that revolutionised the game. VAR is a complex minefield that has been talked about for a decade and it's a farce before its even been introduced to the Premier League.
The two are incomparable. One might suggest only a nincompoop would try to compare the two...
La Liga, Champions League and Serie A are still good to watch with VAR. Has had very little impact imo.
It'll be fine and people are just scared of change.
Anyone remember all that stick we used to get for doubting it?

It'll be shite mate. I'm not even arsed that it gets some things right. The sterling goal being chalked off in the champs league semi was absolutely comical IMO.
Mind, tbf, most football bores me these days so at least it'll piss some off, which is good value.
You're still getting it.
