Andy
I was quoting from stats produced by one of the biggest sports media groups in the world.
I believe I'm justified in thinking their stats would be as good as anyone else's.
I get the impression you are trying to belittle me because I'm not more discerning in my choice of source and maybe should be looking at the more obscure sites that you seem to get your impeccable data from.
Just looked at Eurosport.com and they say 77 games in the past 3 season
http://au.eurosport.com/football/valentin-roberge_prs208395/person.shtml

So now we have you saying 97, soccernet 57, and eurosport 77

But hey you're never wrong
That looks like it backs up what Andy's said, they are league games add the cup games to that and you'll end up with the exact figures Andy stated.

Did andy say 20 cup games. If yes fine by me.
I was a bit ruffled by the fact he inferred I was making things up when in fact I quoted from what is I thought a reputable site.
The last defender we got from the Portuguese league was Babb.
If it's true lets hope he's better than that bag of shite

I hope this one is different but to me this is exactly the same sort of "squad filler" player we have signed under every other manager.

A player in his mid 20's that's never really done anything of note that will probably only make half a dozen appearances a year while blocking the development of our youngsters.

We should only be signing players who will go straight into our 1st team or players who are under 21 & can fill in as squad players now but are likely to improve into 1st team players as the current 1st team move on or get old.

We'll only have three defenders assuming Brown will not be able to play again, we need numbers back there.

57 games in 3 seasons in a mid tier team in a very 'ordinary' league is not very much to get enthused about.
If he had so few games because he was injured, is he a sicknote?
If he had so few games because he wasnt good enough, that's a worry given he's 25 yo.
Maybe he's come on leaps and bounds in the past half season but to be frank the last thing we need is an unproven defender.
We 'own' one decent defender in JoS. The rest are garbage.
If we stay up PdC has a majar period of wheeling and dealing in front of him after the dross Bruce and the gonk left behind.

sorry des, you're talking shite. you do realise the portugese league only has about 16 teams in it so there league season is a maximum of 30 games?

does he play left back as well as defence....just thinking we might not get our star no 3..

careful, I posed a similar thought and monstrous started moaning about Danny Collins

Tend to find those with a low intellect are aggressive. It masks their deficiciencies and insecurities. Grow up sonny.

and here you are - by the way, I find this comment rather ironic considering you are one of the most aggressive posters on this board. It's not just about using profanities you know.

Dailymotion vids of when he was at PSG he was playing LB.

so it looks like its at least possible we were on the right track

Mid table Portugese football is fuckin rubbish. Theres a reason their big three are the big three.

Is it balls, I'd fancy Maritimo to beat us at the minute - they gave the Mags two good games in the Waffa Cup before Christmas.

This bloke would be in the top 10 centre backs in Portugal, for nowt. Decent deal IMO.

Well you can't say all players from Portugal are shite just co's Babb was, we can only wait and see what the lads like, the same with any player we've not seen.

Agreed its that type of stereotyping that describes anyone living in Australia as a drunken middle aged cross-dressing Dame Edna look-a-like with the attention to detail of a touretts syndrome sufferer....

That was trotted out about Graham not long back anarl  but TBF Roberge can not be any worse than Cuellar or Bramble can he

Yet a team with an average attendanc of 2.5k has finished 3rd and sporting lisbon have finished mid table.

If an average attendance of 2,500 can fund the wages of the players reqd to finish 3rd.........

Sporting are a financial and political basket case at the moment. Their over 500m euros in debt and cant pay their players wages and were turned down by their first ten choices when looking for a manager earlier this season.

Having seen Maritimo, Nacional, Rio Ave, Academica and Guimaraes play live in the last two years I stand by my mid table/shite statement.

Id prefer it if PDC stuck in a bid for James Rodriguez though....I mean if were asking about Cavani:lol:

Have you forgotten Roger Wylde already?

Us and the mags have been fighting relegation all season man.

Giving the mags two good games is no recommendation of a leagues quality.

Not in the Maritimo squad today.....

It's a decent gauge, it showed clearly that a team who finished bottom half in Portugal were up to giving a team that finished bottom half in England a game.

So if the top clubs getting to finals and the middling clubs doing well in Europe is no recommendation of leagues quality, what is?
