Enough's enough and I need something to look forward to so i'm going to book a week away in August and travel round these areas. I want to take in a Barca game and go to La Tomatina but can anyone recommend any other sites/events etc that would be well worth a visit while i'm there? Thanks

How nice. Should be an excellent break for you.

Valencia knocks the Basque region into a cocked hat.

You are off yours. Valencia is top draw compared to Bilbao and San Sebastián.

For the Barca game don't buy off third-party websites, easy enough to buy on their own website.

I'm off to Valencia in July, what do you recommend doing?

Get yourself a few days in Benidorm, the jewel in the crown of the Valencia region

I feel like you didn't do San Sebastian right.

It's decent, but you'd go for 3 nights having enjoyed it while also thinking "I'd never go back there". If that makes sense.

And in terms of food, while still being great, is poor compared to Madrid or San Sebastian. Having said that, this place (Inicio - Casa Montaña) is some of the best food I've ever eaten.

To be fair,, I’m not a City person and the fact that both S.S. and Bilbao are jammed into a narrow overcrowded strip twixt sea and mountains makes it even worse.
Valencia is much more open as well as much more diverse, once you get to know it and surrounding areas.
Also it’s much more reasonable with regard to food and other things.
See it in three days ? No way Jose.

I find Basques tend to be a bit strait laced compared to the vast majority of relaxed easy going Spanish further South.
I could go on, but er indoors is pestering me to fix her clothes line.

went out with a lass from Catalonia, nothing but bad memories of the place

    stick to valencia

  18. Central Market, try some Orxata and fartons.
The city of arts and sciences is worth a wander round.
A bike ride or walk along the old river, now a park.

Beyond that it's mainly just a nice city to wander round, chill out and relax.

Both Basques and Catalans, not all I hasten to add, had a reputation for trashing cars from other areas of Spain, especially those with Madrid matriculation, one of the reasons the system was changed, as I understand.
