Using the word Guys in work emails

Used to work for a company that decided calling groups "teams" was a bit old hat so after a good barnstorming sesh the management lot had we would henceforth be called "squads".

Niver use guys. Just "you lot"

I usually start works emails with the persons name, or if mailing a group All, or if cross You Lot better start…. Then whatever I’m cross about

Creeping?
Even the bloody musical came out in 1950!
Ya Daft sod
I’d have put my mortgage on Tommy Twat Pants using it.
I once used ‘Loser’ to a Hungarian colleague who swiftly reported me, he didn’t like that.

I also said stupid as in “that is stupid” to a Polish lass who also reported me despite the context being that would be a stupid thing to do rather than you are stupid.

Do you use it? Apparently you’re supposed to use words like “team” instead , due to the negative Guy Fawkes etymology.
Personally, I hate it. I use “chaps” if I’m talking to men, “folks” if it’s a mixed audience.

i once worked with a lad from Marley Pots and was as rough as a rough thing and spoke a bit like myself using slang regularly, yet when the gaffers were about or in a meeting would come out with with "guys" and i just used to look in total disbelief

and as we all know the SMB stop reading at "guys" dont we lol
