Used Car Problems

Well, I started a case against the garage using The Motor Obundsman.

Took them nearly 8 months to reply.

Here is what they said.

Thank you for getting in touch with The Motor Ombudsman and we apologise for the delay in responding. It’s been a very busy year for us, so it’s taken us a lot longer than usual to contact you, and we appreciate you being so patient with our service.

For us to be able to look into a complaint, the business involved has to be accredited to one or more of our Codes of Practice. That’s what gives us the authority to investigate your case, make a decision and, if needs be, enforce that decision. We’d love to be able to help everyone that contacts us - however, the business you’re complaining about isn’t accredited to any of our Codes, so on this occasion, we won’t be able to take this any further and have closed the enquiry.

It’s worth asking the business if they’re willing to engage in alternative dispute resolution – the process used to resolve things outside of the courtroom – and, if so, who they’d like to use.

We’d also recommend getting in touch with Citizens Advice, as they’ll be able to help you understand your legal rights and give you some guidance on your next steps. You can call them on 0345 404 0506 or visit their website here. And, if you do end up having to take this to court, you can use this email to show that you’ve tried to resolve it without involving a judge.

We’re really sorry we can’t help you this time.

Kind regards,

What is the f***ing point?

My car fecked 3 times with this causing about 2.5k of repairs.

Why dont the feckers spell out these limitations when buying at a new or used stage?
Goateye- with the tech available could some sort of regen needed counter not be fitted?

Buy 3 bottles of Winn’s dpf cleaner.

Put one in on a full tank and wait until it’s all used up.

Repeat with the other two.

While driving around and it’s up to temperature give it a good blast in 3rd where you can.

Probably good suggestions but this is backward in this day n age.

My old man panicked n got shot of a decent car cos of these issues, likely thousands have.

Again, if a car cant be suitably used for local runarounds without huge repairs the manufacturer should make it blatsntly clear imo.
