Unwanted Decision makers at the club will give us unwanted decisions

With the transfer window opening and the club still being run by Donald’s cronies with Parkinson in the hot seat we probably need to strap ourselves in for a difficult few weeks ahead.

If there’s any truth in the Spearing story then maybe the bar has been set.

We need a full reset now.

Totally agree - if we were to sign Spearing and Alnwick it would truly complete Donald's transformation of this club to an unambitious League One also ran. Under their ownership we turned up in a crowd of 46K and created season attendance records beyond Man City, Leeds etc. Yet, Donald is incapable of thinking beyond the ambitions of Shrewsbury and Stevenage (genuinely no disrespect to those two). On top of this he has devastated the youth development of this club for a quick buck - literally flogged off our future. But what do we do about it - I understand people not renewing etc. but this has had no discernible effect. There is a good chance that Donald will still be the owner this time next year and God knows what state we will be in by then.

It’s sad that our default position as a fan base is to expect disappointment.
There’s no longer any genuine hope anymore, no excitement about who we might sign just an expectation that more below standard plodders will turn up to give us another depressing few months.
The clubs stated policy of “waiting until near the end of the transfer window as there could be some bargains” is so predictably going to end in disappointment and us scrambling around for bodies it’s painful.
We’re stuck in groundhog league 1 season until the owners go.

If there are bargains, then we should be signing them as well, but not waiting just in case there are some.

We could end up with no bargains and then we either pay over the odds or get stuck with what we've got.

There should always be a contingency plan of picking up bargains as and when they become available

All comes down to cash flow at the club

When you employ someone who has spent all his time managing lower league you end up with a lower league squad as that’s all he knows.
We then just become another lower league club.

The problem with the plan though is we are a basket case of a club at the moment.
Even if players hang on or are available as the end of the window draws closer, I’d imagine they’d have to be pretty desperate to see us as their preferred destination.
It’s harsh to say it but players have already chosen the likes of Fleetwood over coming to Sunderland.
That speaks volumes for how far the clubs standing has fallen.

Easy money at the likes of Fleetwood - no pressure from the fans or expectations from the employer.

It's only the likes of O'Nien who sign for Sunderland because we have potential and he wants to be part of the hoped for upsurge. It is only a matter of time before we pick up again, but it's going to need a change of ownership as well.
