I'm in. I first must confess that I have been a skeptical of him in the past but no more. His movement and first touch are exquisite and far better than anyone elses in our team. His passing and vision are very good. His balance and footwork is fantastic and it gives him the ability to make deft movements to beat a man. He looks comfortable on either foot and could play in a number of positions for us. I think he will fill the role just off the striker admirably and once our players are used to playing with him, they will benefit from his presence in the team massively.

Yup, he has potential. Needs some cofidence - that volley yesterday was woeful - but his movement and awareness is good.

He's a trier, I'll give him that, just not sure he's suited to English football, needs more game time & his confidence may grow. Worth persisting with. For now.

Over egging the pudding a little maybe but with game time he has a chance. However you slice it though it's pleasing to see people getting behind our youngsters.

All of what you say is true but he's tactically naive.....two or three times yesterday he was caught in possession and i watched him a few times strolling back when Southampton players were well within his reach.....what happened to this superior fitness and pressing we were supposed to be implementing.....Wickham's another one.....f***ing bone idle that lad.

Agree with that. He seemed to think he should have been allowed 10 yards of space with an unlimited amount of time on the ball. Needs to sharpen up if he is going to make it in the PL.

There's a lot to like about the lad but it's that time on the ball he looks for and won't get in the PL and a lack of composure in front of goal.......both can be taught though and i'm more than happy to have him on the bench as he does offer the potential to change a game.

Again, I find myself agreeing with you. Bench but we should be looking for better. I would be tempted with the 4m though.

Both our ball retention and goal threat seem to have suffered when Ji and Wickham have been introduced as substitutes in the last two games. They need to work on their awareness and teamworking.

However, we don't watch them in training, so they hopefully have something and maybe they'll show some promise on Tuesday.

My guess would be that he was asked to hold the ball up. If he has enough about him he'll learn how to use his size and skill to do so more effectively. Game time is the key.

He is still a project of a player somehow. Technically good, looks smart on the pitch, but not tough enough, not strong enough.. We need good players, that are confident, ready.. He is not ready at all. I'd keep him in the squad, but not as a starter, not even as the first substitute

I know it's ludicrously ambitious but £4m for Ji plus £8m for Sess would only leave us about £3m short of going for Hernandez....we would be a right handful with Hernandez, Fletcher and Altidore as our choice of strikers.
