Harry Brooke comes from a good league cricketing family in Burley-in-Wharfedale. I played against his Grandfather, Dad and his uncles. All of them good players and hard. Harry won a scholarship to Giggleswick. He was at Ilkley Grammar before that I think.

Watched their innings, and seen that Pope waiting to come into bat and laughed at the look of him, how i wish i hadn't now. Checked the odds before i went to sleep between innings and England were between 1/100 and 1/250 to win

To be fair even if he turns out to be better than Shane Warne he'll still look like Rocky Dennis

He was at Sedburgh School last year. Saw him in a pre season game at St Peter's York. Got out early on .He thought he had been caught in the gully ,started to walk until he realised the gully had dropped it but a smart return was too quick for Brooke to regain his ground.

My apologies got my public schools mixed up...

Afghanistan cricket: Soon to be a thing?

U19's won the Asia Cup, besting the likes of India and Pakistan. They have now just posted 309/6 against NZ in the quarters, who looked to be the form side of the tournament, not to mention the hosts.

Impressive.

They did lose to Ireland, however, the crazy kids.

New Zealand shot out for 1o7 .:eek::eek:

Won by 202 runs. Think they have the potential to be another Pakistan. Bit unorthodox, capable of beating anyone on their day but also capable of some complete dross. Their leggie Rashid Khan is right up there with the best in the world Imo. Only 19 so has a lot of cricket ahead of him, hopefully a lot of Test cricket. Not playing in this as already well established in the seniors.

Goes without saying they'll have had to scrap for everything they have in their lives and make the best of it. Unlike most of ours.

I think my rooting interests are now between them and Pakistan. Would be great to see them take out the Aussies.

Martin Speight still there as cricket coach as far as I'm aware. Supposedly a superb coach.

Apparently England have 6 or 7 players not available for this tournament due to injury (including Potts from Durham) but from what I have seen this is a very poor U19 side. Not surprised there is very little first class cricket been played by many of them.

There has been some bloody good cricket on display throughout this tournament.

India v Pakistan semi final on at the minute.

England 69-3 against NZ now. Just got worse as the thing has gone on.

Not on TV but looks slow going. Batting like they should have against the crims to be fair but far too late.
