Good or bad thing?

"Each website will create their own non-pornographic landing page for this purpose."

When someone first clicks on a site, they'll be asked to register with AgeID and verify their age using a Mobile SMS, credit card, passport, or driving licence.

Users will then be able to use their AgeID username or password to access all porn sites that use AgeID – though some may use different age verification systems."

Or you can buy a £5 Porn card from the shops.

Delayed UK ‘porn block’ to get new start date ‘soon’ – as Easter deadline approaches

It won't come in on 1st April.

But I fear this is more about the government trying to get mechanisms set up to control and censor access to the internet than anything else.

I suspect most 15 year olds know how to use a VPN and will get around things in 15 seconds which of course the majority of MPs don't understand.
The net result is you drive everything "underground" and make it harder to track people who are genuinely up to no good on the internet.

It's a good thing imo
your lass been checking your history then?

No, UK ISPs will be forced to block access to any foreign site which doesn't conform with the rules.
Does that include dodgy fan sites with foreign servers? ;) Thats a half serious question by the way Rog. With the board having servers in the us iirc will it affect this place?

Nail on head.

Porn is the canary in the mine for pretty much everything related to free expression because it’s easy to manipulate people into thinking it has to be stopped for “moral” reasons, when in fact it’s just about future censoring.
