UK hotel prices

Budget hotels still seem to be good value, whereas places a bit more upmarket seem to have doubled their prices. Staying in Manchester city centre tomorrow night, £38 for a travelodge isn't too bad.

You don't go to somewhere like Manchester to spend all day in a luxury hotel so for somewhere to sleep and shower, a Travelodge is perfectly fine.

Are they taking the piss or what?

Me and the good lady normally have a night away for our anniversary 1st weekend of the year, looked at York and Edinburgh, f***ing £400 to £600 a night for City Centre hotels.

Prices seem to have trebled since two years ago!
Don't go is the simple answer. A week last summer in the lake district (semi posh hotel in Windermere) £2400 for seven nights, no meals. Now that is piss taking.

Captive audience innit. They knew most wouldn't or couldn't go abroad this year. Eventually normality will return and most of these hotels will have to drop their price through the floor or go bust.

last year we looked at a few nights in the lakes at a reasonable but not flash hotel , checked the prices and then checked them again , we could have gone and stayed at Gleneagles and saved money.

Can anyone find owt in edinburgh for night of the 5th December? Taking the kids to Lapland but leaving from Edinburgh, had to book bloody Falkirk!

its a surprise for them so don’t want to raise suspicion by ending up in Falkirk when we’ve told them we are going to Edinburgh.

To be honest, the 20 minute drive to the Airport from Falkirk is great.

Are you wanting city centre or out of town? Dalkeith has some canny guest houses and a premier inn that is hoping one night on 5th for £41. Again it’s a very short drive to the airport from there.
Showing one night, not hoping!
