UK gov universal pay increase

Think the only time employer pension contributions are mentioned is by the tax payers alliance when it comes to council CEO's as they have to report them in the accounts

Should always be included as pension contributions are just deferred pay.

Come off it man. You can opt out.

there is currently an issue i believe that the contribution bands don't rise by the same rate as pay rises, so if your salary is on the borderline, you could end up worse off after a pay rise. If that was sorted out then they would be.
Apologies, I meant the amount you contribute is mandatory according to band and differs accordingly so it’s not as simple as say a 5% employee contribution like it would be in many workplaces , I didn’t make that at all clear.
Starts at 5% and rises to 13.5%.

That was originally introduced as part of the 2008 changes to iron out the extra benefits those at the top get from final salary. It also in part removes some of the tax benefits from those on the higher tax rates. Now that its career average, they should seriously look at phasing out the contribution bands.

With it being a DB scheme, there has to be a minimum contribution level, but you can if you want contribute more via the AVC scheme.
