Two weeks to actually do something...

We need a huge 2 weeks. Probably 3 senior players who are first team quality.

I'd say that was an under estimation.

It's hard to be too critical of the club this summer though. They've had the rug pulled from beneath them with Allardyce and reacted swiftly and in most people's eyes very pragmatically in appointing Moyes.

All of Allardyce's targets and plans then go out of the window it would be simplistic to suggest we just plough on and bring in some of the players Sam had identified but all football managers live and die by their own choices, it's understandable that Moyes wants to have complete veto on who comes and goes from the club in his time.

On transfers Miyes isn't daft and will know the next twelve days are key to our season. He will know that after releasing or selling the lengthy list of players that we have from an already inadequate squad, we desperately need both quality AND quantity before September 1st.

He even said when announcing McNair and Love, these boys are players for the future so I'm not so sure he has them pencilled in as first team players yet (although at present our lack of bodies dictates that they are).

As frustrating and worrying as it is, we've no choice but to trust in Bain and Moyes to do their utmost to address the gaps in the team/squad before the window closes.

That will be the time to assess our chances this season.

After the great scenes at the end of the Everton match last season all the positivity and optimism for the coming seasing has just about evaporated for me.

The BSA farce (caused by the ineptness of the FA)
The Kone situation and I fear we haven't seen the end of this.
Kaboul now leaving (personal reasons..whatever)

On the plus side we have a proven manager in place at this level.
What looks like a decent CEO finally.
The deadwood finally moved on..wage bill reduced and we're still in the Premier League with all its riches.

But...

Our recruitment has been Shambolic thus far...
Januzaj decent potential
2 uninspiring additions from Man Utd u21s
A centreback from Chelsea who has played for them at 1st team level once.

What gets me is if we are skint why spend £8 million on a player that couldn't even make the first team against Man City.

I will reserve judgement until September 1st the BSA,Kone and Kaboul situations are not the club's fault but the recruitment is and thus far I'm unimpressed by their dealings.

Journeymen ageing ex players of Moyes sprinkled with inexperienced squad players from other clubs won't save us this season...as it stands if Defoe gets injured we are fucked.

I don't want to feel this deflated, unimpressed or negative but the club have to do so much better in the final days of this transfer window to bring the positivity and optimism back and hopefully save our season...these coming days are critical.

As I say I will reserve judgement until 1st September
I think we are all holding our breath in hope rather than expectation.

We have a worse squad than what finished last season. This pre season has been utter shite. Fitness levels aside there's been absolutely nothing to get excited about. We've been pedalled that wages were the excuse for not being able to compete and sign quality. Well the club can't hide behind that anymore. I thought we had turned the corner last January and we finally had the chance to kick on. 4 first team players that's all we needed to be comfortable. But no we will go the cheap route yet again and saddle ourselves with more shite we can't get rid of. A defeat against Boro and the optimism from last season will be just about gone.

Tyler Blackett for 5 million then?

He played 8 senior games last season

8!!

That is not the going rate. All those players you quoted played 30 odd. and have been senior pros for years. Its not comparable at all.

Blackett has nose dived and wasn't he subbed twice after coming on as a sub? Totally different player and different position.

Tommy Elphick joined Villa in the Championship for £3m.
Lys Mousset cost Bournemouth £5.4m from Le Havre
Jordon Ibe cost Bournemouth £15m.
Lewis Cook cost Bournemouth an initial £6m.
Brad Smith about £6m.
Hanley cost the Mags £5m ish and so did Clark.
Jedinak, 32 years old, cost Villa about £4m in the Championship.

I can't be arsed to go through the other clubs. McNair for £5.5m is not out of place in that list at all.

Bsa / fa fuck on, bain new to the club and moyes only been here 2 mins.

It was always going to take time for moyes to have a look at players / squad meaning signings would happen late in the window.

I'm still comfortable moyes & bain will get what he needs by 1st sept

because we are weaker than May in nearly every single position. We have a paper thin squad, players in the first 11 desperate to leave and stuck with o'shea in midfield.

Christ alive man, we're absolutely useless.

Agree, however, don't go shouting too loud as anything remotely negative brands you a bedwetter.

You're totally right, at this moment I time we are going into the season missing yedlin, mvila and kaboul and we are yet to replace them. And to top that, cattermole could be out for a while.

I don't buy for one second that Donny Love is our first choice right back.

However on a positive note, hopefully our lackluster activity in the transfer market can be put down to the managerial shuffle and we'll have done something significant come the deadline.

Never get why people say they will judge the squad at the end of the window. By then we will have had 3 league games and a cup tie, if we lose all 4 of those then any momentum from last season is gone and we are playing catch up again, yes the squad will not take shape until the end of the window but given our recent history of not winning a game in August for ages, you would have thought the club might open their f***ing eyes and try and hit the ground running for a change.

This squad is currently weaker than the one that was sitting on 2 points in mid-October last year.

MMMM Keeper we arent weaker
Fullbacks we arent weaker (Yedlin didnt pull up any tree's Love looks as good if not better)
Centre backs we have lost Kaboul gained the African lad and Mcnair unknown if we are weaker
Centre midfield no Mvilla lots of injuries
Up front no weaker, still Borini Defoe Khazri Watmore very promising Gooch

Looks to me like we have lost two players for now that we wouldnt want to lose Kaboul and Mvilla

How are we weaker everywhere?

Love has played one game where he looked dodgey at times. I'm not s yedlin fan but to say love is already better is absolute nonsense and red and white specs.

Midfield we are weaker, no mvila, no Cattermole for a start. Centre backs we have just lost our best one.

We don't have any options, we can't even field a bench of senior players man

You sound Worried?

We will never do anything as long as the current owner remains in control of the club. As usual, everything is geared towards that 17th place, their is no ambition whatsoever to achieve anything other than that. I'd be amazed if our net spend this summer is much more than £15m.

Is the transfer window closed already then?
