Two weeks to actually do something...

Don't disagree with that. I just think people are questioning McNair because his name isn't exotic.

Well I can tell you I am not, some might you are right.

I think for 5 million we need players who are ready from day 1, not learning the trade, which I think he is.

I stand by that, think its a fair point, we finished 17th last year.

Its not, we have just sold Kaboul, who is only 30, for 3.5 million

We overpaid for McNair.

How much were Hanley? Clark? Cook? Ibe? £5m for a 21 year old from Manchester United is not overpaying.

Kaboul for £3.5m is selling him for a lot less than he's worth.

Fees have rocketed.

It is overpaying

Why do I care that he is from Man Utd? I dob't get that point. Would you sign Tyler Blackett for 5 mill?

Also my point stands, we finished 17th, we need players who can make massive contributions now. Not in 2 years time.

Not for me. He is development level. Back up. We over payed a little. We need senior, first team quality.

He's far more than development level. How many of our lads at development level would have played as many games for Manchester United as McNair has?

It's not like, it's the going rate these days. United is important as the lad has made a number of appearances for them over the last 2 years. It's not exactly the same as having played a few times for Gillingham.

I keep forgetting McNair for centre mid. He's not a household name and needs to fit in but has senior experience and ability so is ready to play. We need others like MVIla and Kirchoff here and fit to play with him so we're strong enough of course but I don't agree he's just one for the development squad.

Tyler Blackett for 5 million then?

He played 8 senior games last season

8!!

That is not the going rate. All those players you quoted played 30 odd. and have been senior pros for years. Its not comparable at all.

I will reserve judgment until 1St Sept as I feel we have good people in charge if the club right now (Moyes and Bain) but right now it feels as though all the optimism from May has slowly been sucked away by the BSA, Kone and Kaboul nonsense.

.

This is what gets me......it has to be the club accepting Kaboul's personal problems are paramount here and forgoing a fee which reflects his status, age and contract length. The "caring club" eh.....not sure why we couldn't accept the situation but insist that a realistic fee is paid....£8-10m would have been realistic imo.

As an institution we are unsurpassed in finding different ways to shoot ourselves in the foot. This summer surpasses the lot though.

Imagine the atmosphere and damage with a defeat Sunday . Ambition !

I'd be more impressed with Bain if he was getting fees which reflect the true worth of players we are selling. Anyone can flog stuff on ebay if your price is cheap enough. The real test for him will be getting quality inwards.

I said a couple of weeks ago that we would only get a single point from our opening two fixtures and I'd take your hands off for that now. We could well be plumb bottom after the Southampton game.

McNair is simply not development level. Clearly a 1st team player. I understand and share the frustration of this summer but there has to be some perspective regarding this lad. Trusted by an experienced manager like LVG to represent Man Utd and he has performed well at international level for Northern Ireland but only development level for us?

Ha'way man.

We need a huge 2 weeks. Probably 3 senior players who are first team quality.

3 senior players would leave us no better off than the end of last season. We are now down Kaboul, M'Villa and Yedders. They need replacing and still require a striker and quality midfielder.

Worried :(

Only time will tell I guess but I'm with you. If Kirchoff isn't fit I'd play him ahead of Kirchoff. Kirchoff is an incredible player - probably our best but no use limping about week in week out. And Khazri also needs to get up to speed. We need to be competitive and McNair brings plenty of that. I work in Manchester and my utd mates rate him more than I do which is a good sign. There were a few they wanted gone ahead of him.
