Twin resorts named in 'Six of the UK's most beautiful beaches'.

Stretch of sand with some nice cliffs admittedly and at the other end an impressive pier.

There's more "beautiful" beaches on the stretch of coastline.

And they're not ruined by a tatty Morrisons, a run down park, an abandoned fair ground, a derelict leisure centre etc.

Spoils the place. Especially considering the effort they've put into the promenade area which looks great.

Only Sunderland Council and the moronic planners who've blighted the city for generations could completely waste the opportunities presented by a fabulous stretch of coastline.

The North East in general doesn't make enough of its beaches imo.

I realise people might mock but you take a walk down from the bottom of Easington Colliery past the old pithead, along the cliffs, through the Dene, under the viaduct and along the beach and tell me it's not a lovely walk. And it's one of many of its kind.

Bet most of the UK populace feels the same towards their councils.

No doubt. But not many councils have made as big a mess of their city as Sunderland's since WWII. Vaux being the latest "once in a generation" opportunity turning into nothing but an eyesore.

Seems everyone disagrees with you and you’re a Mag anyway

Seems all the dog shit and dirty needles have dragged Shields beach down according to the voters for this list. Shame.
