TV licence

Anyone who doesn't think the licence fee is good value is stupid. World class programming like Attenborough, League Of Gentlemen team. Plus the sports coverage including radio.

I always feel sorry for the people you see on YouTube and the like trying to collect any arrears from people. Trying to do their valid job only to be met with disdain by scratterish tossers who think they are above the law.
:D:D:D

It's a matter of opinion of course but most people would surely recognise it as good value.

American TV as an example - wall to wall shite in the main saturated with adverts. I've even seen adverts being broadcast during live sports games.

American live tv is unwatchable. technology and subscription services have moved the goalposts.

I am happy to pay the licence fee but I don't get the value from the BBC that I once did.

The premium cable channels don't have ads on 'em.

They don't say you need one for a caravan.
They do if i say i dont have one at home.
When i rang tv licensing i was just being curious (awkward) as to weather i needed a license if i couldnt actually receive any bbc channels due to no coverage. I get quite a few channels, but no bbc.

Because it's not optional for watching TV in general. Maybe you're struggling to understand this?

I understand fully you need a license to watch TV in it's many forms not just the BBC.

I'm not saying I necessarily agree with it's blanket reach but the legislation exists so if you that opposed to it the ultimate option is not to watch any TV. Some people do exactly that.

Exactly, it's the legislation itself that's the problem - outdated and out of favour.

It looks it is here to stay regardless.

To me personally the BBC is a decent institution and something worthwhile. It is certainly respected abroad as well. The news coverage is decent and well thought of along with it's other output I have mentioned.

The problem I believe if it were optional would be it would be even more open to abuse than it already is. I think that is the main driver of it today.
