When do you not need one? Is this for BBC only like BBC iPlayer etc. Or for watching any live tv? Just want some clarification as I never watch BBC at all. A big fan of Netflix and amazon prime.

You only need one if a man comes knocking at your door and you’re daft enough to let him in.

Seems a bit shit having to pay for one (or full price for one) if you're deaf mind.

Subtitles are shocking at times and the signed stuff is on at stupid o'clock and only. On random things.

I think if you’d watched more BBC and less Sky you’d know the difference between comparable and identical

I watch stuff on all platforms.

Some is good, some is shite. Netflix for example, I just cancelled my subscription because sick of it and not much I want to watch. Haven’t had anyone knocking on my door when watching sky sports because I cancelled my Netflix sub though.

Imagine that.

Clearly, my point stands.

Great stuff. Next week, Sleepy explains why if he can use his in work benefits to get his ingrowing toenail seen to at a private hospital, why does the whole country need the NHS?

Still haven’t got an answer have you?

Silly “comparisons” and attempted humour are quite common on these threads. Guess it’s the only way to try and explain forcing everyone to pay regardless if they use it or not.

This has been explained any number of times. Anyone still arguing this point is beyond help.

If you watch live TV or use iPlayer you need one.
If you don't watch live TV or use iPlayer you don't (even if you have the equipment to receive live TV or iPlayer).
It's pretty unenforceable. You have to be caught watching live TV or admit to it.
By the way I have a TV licence.
This is the correct answer.I never had one for years as never watched live tv at all. They pestered me until I wrote to them explaining and never heard from them again, even though they said they would review situation in 6 months.
