Got a quote of £130 plus vat to run a new cable to the aerial with a years guarentee ,is that the norm ? has anyone had it done recently or am i living in the dark ages, seems a lot to me.

I got my dads done about 2 years ago (in pandemic) and they charged £90 just to fit a booster which I could’ve probably done for £20.

I wasn’t around though so just had to suck it up.

It’s expensive these days I agree but maybe it reflects the level of skill and equipment required.

Seems a lot to me too but need more detail as to size and accessibility of your home

£130?! I want a longer sky cable running from the dish straight down the wall into the living room as I want to move where the tv is currently but I would not be interested in paying anything like that.

Aerial and 50m drum of RG6 coax from Screwfix - £50
F-Plug connectors 10 pack - £3
Borrow a ladder.

Can you not just lengthen the current cable? It's cheap and easy.

I'm surprised how many people still use an aerial.

My cable got torn off and the only part of the aerial left is the pole thanks to the storm at the end of 2021. I've thought of replacing it but I haven't watched terrestrial tele for over 20 years, always been through cable. Is there still a need for a TV aerial?

I have a basic sky package and access everything through my box. Additional to that I have the usual online subscription stuff plus, ahem, other methods of watching stuff.

Just do what I did when my aerial blew down and put it in the loft. Never had a problem with signal since, better than when it was on the roof.

On recommendations from here last year, I used Ashbrooke Audio Visuals - 07749 306839

I got two Freeview aerials replaced with all new cabling for £120 and was very happy with the price and quality of job.

Because of this, I recommended him to a friend who was also very pleased with his work and competitive price
