Turning this mess around

Good luck Alex, dear me.

Players look absolutely shot to bits and cant do the basics, not even having a shot on target from open play ffs.

If we don't go up this season, Speakman is going to be lucky to hold onto his job and even luckier to get it right next season.

Complete shambles
The rotten core has never been the unfortunate players wearing our colours, or the many managers on the touch line, but the Ownership.
Today's team selection still had the stench of the 'Project' about it and Dodds on the touchline ! Keane would have never stood for that and why I think a lot of fans have acted stupidly the past two days, because Neil is NOT his own man.

Makes you wonder if Johnson was actually overachieving with the young group. But I am sure nobody will have that.

They look like they are sulking to me and have no idea what to do now the previous plan has gone.

Big week on the training pitch this week for AN.

We’d won 1 in 6 before Johnson was sacked and we’d just been twatted 6-0. Let’s not re-write history here.

It's gone to shit, but 6-8 weeks ago there wasn't really a problem. That's the most alarming thing. We've gone from looking like a decent outfit to a bit of a shit show.

The next few games aren’t exactly the easiest either. MK Dons and Wigan in the next 3.

It’s going to take time, a lot of the lads are really struggling physically and mentally

I find it really hard to have too much of a go at the young lads who are being played every week, many in their first full season in senior football. Yes there are some poor players and some dire performances from almost all of them, but they are really learning on the job. However, the senior pros in the squad need to have a long, hard look at themselves and what they are contributing to this mess. Evans, Wright, Gooch and Winchester all have plenty of experience behind them and simply aren't performing well enough or doing enough to support the young lads in the team. Then we add Defoe, Baath, McGeady, O'Nien etc in too who are just recently here or injured and surely there has to be a burden taken by these senior players? You have to expect inconsistency from young lads playing their first season, and it's not to excuse them from poor performances - it's an explanation rather than an excuse. What's the explanation for the consistently poor, consistently hiding performances from the senior players?
Young lads do have ups and downs. That is why you don’t want too many in the team at once.

Poor little souls. They are vastly overrated.

They are clearly capable players though as we’ve seen some very good performances from most of them this season.

Stewart in particular looks completely worn out and in need of a rest

I think this is rose tinted glasses stuff. We had a spell this season where we got whacked at Portsmouth, Sheff Wed and Rotherham, as well putting in horrorshow performances at home to bottom three Charlton and away to ten man Shrewsbury. There have been warning since about October, particularly with regards to the previous managers approach and the balance of our squad both in terms of age and quality.

We got off to a great start primarily because we played 6 of our first 9 at home (iirc). Once there was a balance between home and away, we dropped off.

Thought we'd lose on pens in the playoffs, now don't believe we'll even get there, past caring. Another season in league 1 purgatory beckons. Wigan threw a team together from scratch and will go up, baffles me why we can't do this considering the advantages we have
And the fact that they’re using ex players that people on here said weren’t good enough for us
Just listened to the post match interview and Neil sums things up to a tee which gives me some hope.
Johnson was good on the mic too.

FFS , totally disagree. Some good brave performances out there today , add to that the skilfull players that Neil has to work with , I think we will be having a good go at the playoffs.
The negative trash talk on here is desperately depressing mind.

Stupid merge from my thread Weak mentality >turning this mess around, really? Totally different problems / challenges
