Turkey? Anything but Turkey?

Haven't had Turkey since my mother was alive. She was pretty staunch and a General in the kitchen so we had no say in it.

Usually go for beef or lamb but this year going for a few chickens due to dietary requirements of the guests.
Beef and chicken we never do turkey

There's a reason it's only really eaten at Christmas. It's absolutely shit - dry and tastes like arse.
We have beef every year.

Anyone who says turkey is dry is cooking it wrong. Cook it to death the day before and anything will be dry. Cook it properly with enough time to rest then carve before serving and it’s lovely.

Turkey once a year it’s festive and traditional for us.
Get it out of the fridge early before chucking it in the oven.
Got up a few back and as I put the oven on at 4am it shorted the lekky, oven was bust.
Slow cooked it in the end from 5am to 3pm, was ok, the Yorkshire’s was a tad soggy though.
