It’s really strange how we tell single parent families that it’s really important to have good Male role models at home, but as soon as it’s a school teacher, that’s just wrong. I don’t get that.

They need to hand out stickers that say 'Future Snowflake' - that should about cover it.

It is sexist mind, albeit unintentional imo. They should just offer a choice of sticker to each kid - they can then be 'empowered' to be what they want - sorted!

I'm not offended in the slightest but it is wrong and outdated to assume the roles. Just put both stickers in the pack and let kids choose for themselves just like real life.

Arguably teachers and nurses don’t generate any money so we shouldn’t pay them anything? Why is it how much cash you generate rather than how much you change someone, the barometer? Because society has deemed that’s the way it should be. It’s not the only way we can look at things.

It's economic rent. It's not a difficult concept. It's the extra money people are willing to pay to secure a resource because that resource is rare. Obviously we can restructure society and I think we should but it would need a big shift in the philosophy of the population to make it happen.

I dont think thats the case at all.


The main reason will be that in most family relationships the woman ends up making the career sacrifices for the family. So while the husband works late she will be the one finishing on time or sometimes only working part time so she can get home.

Again, something massively influenced by society and something that every year changes ever so slightly.

It will take another 50 years but eventually there will come a point where gender roles are nowhere near as black and white as they are now.

Every woman I know who reduced their hours or packed in all together, didn't make that "sacrifice" because of social pressures.

They did it because they wanted to look after their kids and felt that the real "sacrifice" was missing out on them growing up.

Believe it or not a lot of women are quite maternal and get resentful when work gets in the way of being with their kids.

Biology eh?
