Trump calls for teachers to carry guns

I give up.

Wonder what would happen if a President's child was shot dead!
I said to someone the other day, the only way to change things is if someone goes out and shoots dead the children of all the top-ranking NRA leaders. Certainly not suggesting someone does it, as that is obviously beyond horrible - but that's how entrenched they are.

The NRA basically owns American politics, just like Murdoch does here.

NRA's Wayne LaPierre hits Democrats, socialism in speech that goes beyond gun fight - CNNPolitics

Been on BBC WS. Honestly beyond belief.

Why did that young lad do it? Inspired by previous shootings?

I'm so glad I wasn't raised in the USA with guns around me. I might have grown to like/admire them too. So many American movies promote violence and guns. It's a sick culture.

So called World's Policeman!

It's only crazy to non-Americans though. Within the culture of the US and their right to bear arms etc, it is a completely rationale and logical opinion to have and would have a sizeable support of the electorate I'd say.

The reality is the horse has long since bolted. The sheer number of firearms and munitions in circulation now means only an outright and total ban across the board would have any significant impact.

The NRA don't have the power to do anything. Yes they have an indirect influence for sure, but the constant suggestion that they pull the strings on these matters is wildly exaggerated in my opinion.
John Oliver made a good point on his show (yes it's comedy, but still). The NRA have a lot of influence because their members actually turn up to things; votes, rallies, protests etc. The people wanting change are too apathetic to actually go and make it happen.

If you were to give teachers over here guns 'for safety' I'd be willing to guess there would be tears within a month, America, days probably.

I'm surprised they've not just suggested a yearly purge or battle royale yet, tbh

and to remove gun freeze zones around schools. Christ man, looks like dozens maybe hundreds more kids will die in America in 2018 with this administration. And to think just one bullet could stop his patter

I hate Trump with a passion, sadly in America loads of politicians are in the pocket of the NRA. It's gonna be a problem long after that buffoon has fucked off

If the influence of the NRA is really so vague and powerless then why do they spend millions and millions and millions of dollars funding ‘certain’ candidates election campaigns? I’m sure it’s not just because they think these candidates are really nice blokes.

I'd love to see someone "pop a cap in his ass"
He’d probably be martyred the disgusting shit-house.

Church To Hold A Controversial Blessing Ceremony For AR-15s

CBS Local — A church in Pennsylvania has thrown itself into the nationwide debate on gun laws by announcing they will be hosting a blessing ceremony for couples with an AR-15 assault rifle.

The controversial event is set to take place just two weeks after 17 people were killed in a Florida high school by a gunman using the same weapon.

The World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, an offshoot of the Unification Church, is inviting couples to bring their semi-automatic rifles to the church on Feb. 28 to “show their willingness to defend their families, communities and nation.”

“All of the weapons in the ceremony will be checked to make sure they are unloaded, with a zip tie so that no bullets can be inserted,” Sanctuary Church president Richard Panzer said in an email obtained by The Times-Tribune.
