Troy Deeney £25m

Deeney is a very good player and very underrated on here, he's a very good No 10 and Watford fans will tell you he's there best player. He would suit Leicester very well.

£32m is absolutely ridiculous though, at that price you can buy almost anybody in the world apart from the very best.

I'd like him at Leicester but wouldn't want to spend much more than £15m

Deeney's a good player, grafter, strong, good touch, served his time in the lower leagues, decent ability , I wouldn't pay more than 3 million for him

We have to get used to these inflated numbers. And if the PL club supporters are upset, imagine how it feels to be in the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue1, etc.

The real story here is that the initial bid of 25M was rejected.

Good news for smaller clubs in the lower level of the English pyramid that invest in their academy.

Deeney for £25m is absolutely ridiculous. He's not even the best striker at Watford

He just scored 20+ goals in the Championship three seasons running and then gets 13 goals, 8 assists in his first PL season.

Valuing him at £3m is even more ridiculous than valuing him at £32m.

Contest held while you were banned most likely :)

I was still reading. ;)

so scoring 20 plus goals consistently in the championship and having one season in premiership scoring less goals than Jemaine Defoe makes a 3million plus player in your view. How much is Stephen Fletcher worth then?

Look at the players going for about £10m in the Championship, Jordan Rhodes, Andre Gray, Ross McCormak, etc.

£3m is what you find down the back of the sofa for PL clubs, have you been living in a cave the last 20 years?

Diego Costa & Martial got less goals than Defoe last year as well.

It's not even that ludicrous imo, which i suppose is ludicrous in itself!

There is zero value in the Premier League market - the TV deal, or more importantly the reward for retaining PL status, means no club need to sell their best players. For a team like Watford, the risk of losing that slice of TV money far outweighs the sub £10m reward of selling your talisman (£10m is based upon the likely cost of a replacement and sell-on payments)

They might come to regret it in a year's time, but fair play to Watford in this one.

The problem I reckon is that the crazy prices in the PL will trickle into the rest of Europe as clubs know English teams can afford to pay daft prices.

I think good scouts and a good DOF will be essential for English clubs over the coming seasons likewise being able to scout cheap players in South America like clubs in Portugal and Spain have done well down the years.

I dred to think how much Southampton will take us for if Koeman goes back in for some of their players.
