Excellent test match player for England, well played and good luck.

However, when Ballance took his place in the side and he should have never been given the chance to open. Lyth was one of only 2 openers on the Windies tour and never played! 3 ducks and 5 failures for Trott. Awful team selection by Moores.

Just seen Angus Fraser on Sky bulling up Robson, talk about bias! He's had his chance, he's not good enough.

Lyth now needs to play games ASAP to prove his form as he's never played for weeks. Hales might pip him given he's the man in form and his scoring rate will give us impetus and balance at the top of the order too.

Hales for me , he's been playing and in form

Might be unlucky for lyth but that's test cricket, right place right time

Look at trott, 2009 ashes, comes in and scores a match winning 100 in debut

He's been w truley class player, part of a great england side. Winning series I never though I'd say us win when I was growing up

People should remember that player and not the last few tests, I think he might of been ok at 4 where he plays for county

All the best too him. Apparently it was emotional when he retired in dressing room, good to see it means so much to the players

Not like anyone in the media would do this with Yorkshire players!

Good lad trotty. Nars where his off stump is.
On the ground behind him

I was one who suggested he deserved a chance back at Test level and I don't regret saying that as I believe he had a good season. His innings up at Durham last season was class. He's one of those players I haven't got a bad word to say about. I wish him well for the future apart from when he's up against Durham

Cheers Trotty.
Aye this

Good decision from Trott and at least he knows by getting a chance in the West Indies he was no longer up to the job which will probably help him mentally. Can now enjoy a few seasons scoring runs in the no pressure back water of county cricket.

aye, nowt helps someone mentally more than abject failure :lol:

Awful selection by James Whittaker to be fair

Hales for me as well, I think he could have a similar impact for us as Warner does for Australia. Says a lot for England though that one of them is a starter in all forms of cricket and the other isn't in any. He would complement Cook and Ballance's solidity well.

I agree totally

Would I would say is Warner was a bit of a punt which has rightfully came off, he mid mistakes a lot, but has learnt what shots to play when. Australia have also had failures in that respect

Maxwell has a class first class record, played number 3 in Pakistan and failed miserably, Finch doesn't get near the squad

Agree though, they don't even trust Hales to open in ODI .

His form over the last year in CCC deserves a call up, he has been sensational, and scored at a good rate too.
