the top two runscorers in the tournament

trott 336
strauss 329

despite everything, we will have a chance of winning this, unless of course both india and the saffers lose

I tend to agree mate injuries have cost us esp with Broad but the wickets are suited to how we bowl.

not be long till essex boy says they have only scored those runs because of the flat pitches.

i reckon trott is a superb find by the selectors. i remember when he was selected for the final ashes test couple of years ago when most didnt know much about him, me included.

they are also both South African born ;)

just like imran tahir? ;)

refer to my previous post where I said its a shame he didnt marry an English girl ;)

It seems obvious to me that the England teams batting ability isnt in question. However their mental attitude is - hence the bizarre results we have all seen this tournament.

In this situation experience tells me that either:

1. england will now prosper and win the tournament, or at least get to the final, or
2. their luck runs out and they come home next game.

Its one or the other.

ps we havent qualified yet!

Slightly unfair I think or at least there are good reasons for it. I know its a bit cringeworthy using the too many games argument to very well paid sportsmen but I do think its the reason for the inconsistency. Huge mental strength went into the Ashes and its just been followed by cricket, cricket and more cricket and the players have been away from their families for a lifetime ( I knarr boo hoo and all that ;) ) - hopefully the do or die remainder of the competiton will see us play well.
