Train for London

Sorted coming back Monday for 60 return for 2 of us. Will have time to see friends and the lass has never been to the Tower or Hampton Court Palace so it's a win either way.

I’d definitely be booking a hotel with free cancellation. I did it before the 2nd leg of the semi at old Trafford for a hotel near Kings Cross. The day after we beat them the price had doubled.

I have done this for 3 of us, but driving down early Saturday morning

Aye, for that reason I'd prefer just to car it.

Cba with the chew/anxiety rushing to KX back from Wembley and ending up standing for the whole time back potentially.
Did trains last twice and your correct . It’s a race after the final whistle and chances are you will find it rammed before you get there.
Long journey back standing squeezed like cattle especially if you have kids.

Do you know if standing will be allowed in the first class coaches?

I booked 1st class return both ways both times and fine going down.
On the way back it is every man for himself and there are no inspectors on the train or if there are they dont come out their cabin. The train is so packed tight that they wouldn't be able to move down the carriages.
Usually announced on tannoy as all seat reservations are cancelled.

Yeah it's basically a free for all at that point. Which isn't good if you're getting on at Peterborough because it's always full

Someone told me last time the train was so packed, people couldn’t make the toilet. One guy pissed in a bottle and another literally shit himself and had to throw his pants away in burger king

Not sure about the shit in pants but saw a fair few having to piss in bottles. It reminded me of the old away days on the bus.
Shame really as the train really is the best option if you want to do it in the same day.

Can’t remember if this was the paint trophy or the PO final, but it was defo the Ross season. Fella ruined himself with twenty minutes to go, got off at Sunderland, crawled up the steps and abandoned his gear in Burger King. Would have thought someone off here would have witnessed.

I’ve booked a parking space next to Wembley.
Ive stopped at the Hilton right next to Wembley and it was canny. Thinking of doing it again if I cant be bothered to drive down and back in a day. Not too fussed about going into the usual TS etc
