Tour de France 2020

Its 200km and they are going over the tourmalet so it is a difficult stage. If sagan was on prime form I would say that this stage is made for him.

It could be a good one for a classics specialist so allaphillipe or Van Avermaet could also be in with a shot if their legs are good. There might be a chance of a breakaway sticking today - it will be a good race.

Shane I am at work so I will have to catch the highlights.

Van Aert 'fresh' from the mountains in a sprint finish today.

Not having the fact he can drop Bernal, Quintana and other top climbers........ok Bernal was obviously out of sorts but the other dozen or so mountain specialists?

Not a chance.
Yeah, it would be a shame because I like him as a rider, but his performances this year have been a little too outstanding. JV have spent a lot of money forming an exceptional squad but even so they look a bit too in control of the race. At least as in control as team sky or US postal ever were.

BBC reckons 166.5km, which probably puts it on the short to average side for this year's tour. It's relatively flat (only one cat 4 climb) but undulating looking at the profile. Looks a standard breakaway go out, get caught, sprint finish type of day.

With a sprint at 117km in just to really put the cat amongst the green jersey pidgeons.

Wouldn't care but I maxed out the 100 points anarl

Yates aside its been a disaster....all part of my cunning wooden spoon plan.

There are so many points for winning GC/holding the jersey it's nigh on impossible to win if you don't pick the winner. I'm sure Roglic was 4 more expensive than everyone else which is what put me off. Would've been worth it in the end though.

@dixonsafc has both Roglic and Pogacar. He's second currently but I think that should see him over the line. I'm desparately clinging on to top 5 after leading off and on for a good while (Mollema crashing out seemed to be a turning point and Winner Anacona hasn't lived up to his name).

Don't put all your eggs in one Buchmann, as the saying goes...

How did Mollema end up scoring that many points? I don't remember him doing anything much.

I'm pretty sure you get something daft like 1000 points added on for winning it so anyone without Rog will drop down the standings after Paris.

Mollema was doing quite well (as he usually does) in the early mountain stages. Never prominent but always in the group of GC contenders.

It's 600 for GC and 120 for Green and KoM. They could even that up a bit, say, 400, 200, 200.

Not sure I'd agree that yellow should only be double green/KoM. 400, 120, 120 maybe. Either way, I thought Roglic would win so it's my own stupid fault for not picking him!

TBH, I'd agree about KoM. It's the jersey that nobody seems to care about.

It's been particularly bad this year with Cosnefroy holding it for so long. Not sure if that was just down to the route but you usually get a bit more of a battle for it. I don't think green needs a big boost as all the things that win green points seem to score highly in the game (see Bennet and Sags in my team for example).

Decent punchy stage with a lot of attacking today, it was very much like a one day race.

I though Sagan would be able to distance bennet on the climbs, so well done Sam. Wears green into Paris barring a very unfortunate retirement.
