Is that the shop. Ext door to the flying boat ?if it is he’s one of the biggest dick heads Ive ever met.I really wanted to like this place. Went in over the summer and was patronised to fuck off the bloke in there. Shame.
Yep. Walked in and he lectured me all about craft beer. Ten minutes before I was allowed to order. Didn’t have a clue about all the local up and coming brewers. Ah well.Is that the shop. Ext door to the flying boat ?if it is he’s one of the biggest dick heads Ive ever met.
Port Bierhaus if you’re in town is class tooWas in before lockdown for cans not haircut !! They have an ok selection (plus I never got lectured. Possibly a different fella who served me as didn’t come across as a total dick as mentioned above).
The Little shop in Sunderland ciity centre has a much better selection and often some real rare treats. You can defo just turn up there.

Didn’t know about blues. I’ll have a look. Ta very much !Little Shop is class and yes they do get more obscure stuff in at times. Port Bierhaus is good as well. Blues in Whitburn has a cracking selection, lovely couple who have it, and he's a MLF as well. All 3 have always been really friendly.
Vaux are brewing modern hop forward beers. Maxim do the traditional stuff. There's certainly more than enough room for both of them, and they're both good at what they do. Vaux should improve now they've got their own kit and head brewer in place.Didn’t know about blues. I’ll have a look. Ta very much !
Aye port beer house was canny, went in prior to lockdown two (or is it 3 now ??! Ffs). They focused on the more local beers which is a great shout, although I have to say I’m not a fan of the new (supposed) vaux beers. Was a very bold, and I think cheeky move calling themselves Vaux but I figured they must be onto something good to be so confident to takeover a Sunderland institution’s name so was looking forward to it. I’ve been disappointed so far.
Maxim brewery are doing a much better job of keeping the Vaux name alive in my opinion.
Aye mate Maxim are sticking to the old school beers. Only really double maxim of theirs that I like but I love that it’s done really well and is keeping an old Sunderland beer alive.Vaux are brewing modern hop forward beers.
