A Government report that measures deprivation found Jaywick, near Clacton-on-Sea, top the list of 32,844 small areas or neighbourhoods in the country.
Alongside an area of the Anfield district of Liverpool, some eight neighbourhoods across the seaside resort of Blackpool account for the rest of the top 10 most deprived nationally.

Teesside in general has always been up there on these lists for the most deprived areas. Shame, there are some beautiful spots.

For those that keep their ear to the ground for local politics, seeing Oldham as the area with the highest negative change is very notable. Would love to see some further information on this if anybody has it?
