When was the last time Newcastle and Sunderland were top of the premier league?
I think for Newcastle it was opening day of the 07/08 season after winning 3-1 at Bolton. Iirc Sunderland were top just before that, early kick off vs Spurs.
Has there been any other times since?

I reckon that's the only time we've been top. IIRC a late Trevor Sinclair goal for West Ham stopped us going top in about 2001, around Christmas I think.

Only time a team that went on to be crowned champions got beat 1-9 at home during that season. Actually only time any team has been beaten at home that bad in the top leagues..

Then the Liverpool match finished and their win sent them top. From memory it was away to Arsenal and Robbie Keane scored....
