Tommy Watson - Don’t shoot the messenger!!!!!

Id say that it's unlikely that it's a 'done deal'. What I think is more likely is that we have communicated to his agent that we will let him go in the summer for a certain price, which is essentially what we did with Clarke- letting him go for essentially the same money (though up front) that had been offered by Burnley and then Lazio in the previous windows- basically saying that we need him for the last half of the season, but he can go after that.

It's essentially a done deal then if we know that Brighton are likely to bid that amount in the summer. But likely dependent on his fitness (i.e. if the worst happens and he gets a long term Injury).

I know the family are all Sunderland fans, but he just doesn't strike me as someone who loves the club.
He’s been through the academy and his brothers are at the academy aswell.
His parents are safc fans same as him.

He’s a top talent fir someone so young.

There’s a reason why premier league clubs are sniffing about.

U can’t blame young lads if they move on from us when money and opportunities from established premier league clubs are different level to what we can offer at the minute.

As long as not cut price and same deal as in Jan, bring it on.
We will need experience in the Premier next season to survive.
The new owners will have a different slant on things.

I don't tend to get attached to players these days, because truth is unless you are man city or even liverpool there's a real madrid or someone else, would will come along swoop in and sign your best.

I dont think its even that. If teams want to sign young players off us for big money after a 2-3 month purple patch of performances, ill build the conveyor belt for them out the door.

The fact that every day there’s a different rumour about one of our players signing for a premier league club for big money is f***ing brilliant.
Three years ago we wouldn’t have got a packet of wotsits for our whole team.
Do you not remeber the Josh Scowen to Chelsea rumour? Or the Aiden O’Brian to Liverpool gossip…..

He's played 13 times. If we are getting 10+ million - il piggy back him down to Brighton myself. Afterall we're a selling club and the model is literally set up to achieve these results. Bed in young, maximise game time and sell on. They'll be a lot more then Tommy exiting this summer.

If you need a hand we can do it in relays. If someone is going to pay us for him I would sell, I don't think he's good enough

I'll be honest if he was my lad, and an opportunity to go to Brighton was on the table, I'd be advising him to take it. Financially it's a great start in life for him, Brighton have a good reputation for nurturing talent and it's also getting him out the NE bubble to go and learn to grow up, meet new people, strike out on his own. Plus he's not exactly guaranteed game time here with Mundle in front of him.

He's got a lot to learn, and nowhere near good enough to be starting games over Mundle.

The summer is going to see bigger changes than this lad moving on. Brighton is a good step up for him, but I doubt he'll get a lot of game time there, he may even get loaned out. A good fee and a sell on clause for us to reinvest wouldn't be the end of the world if the lad wants to go.

As a Sunderland supporting father, I'd be hoping he'd play for some bugger else anarl.
